    3. Can anyone shed any light on these Henderson's I found on the 1880 census in Calhoun Co. Ms? Robert Henderson age 32 Ms Al Tn Rebecca age 27 Ms Ms Tn Esther age 4 Ms Ms Tn Ethel age3 Ms Ms Tn Harrison A. age 2 mos. Ms Ms Tn Mary age 52 Tn Nc Nc Albert age 20 Ms Al Tn Elmer V. age 17 Ms Al Tn Here's my take on it. Mary is the Mary White that is the wife of James Henderson(deceased). Robert, Albert and Elmer are her son's. Rebecca and the kids belong to Robert. The census taker didn't put anyone's relationship to Robert. And if you look at the kids' place of birth and their parents place of birth, it should be Ms, Ms, Ms if these are Robert's children. The census taker just put "quotation" marks under Rebecca's birth place columns. Next door is: Berry A. Henderson age 29 Ms Al Tn Nannie age 21 Ms Ms Al James W. age 2 Ms Ms Al Robert age 9 mos Ms Ms Al Josephene age 11 Ms Ms Al (Who's child is this?) Again, no relationships listed, and look at the place of birth for the children. The census taker just put "quotation" marks under the mother's places of birth columns. My take on this is that Berry is also a son of Mary White and James Henderson listed next door. Who is Josephene? Too old to be Nannie and Berry's child? Too young to be one of Mary and James'? I've been looking for a Josephine Henderson born 1869, born in Ms whose father (according to the 1900 census) was born in Ms and mother in Tn. She moved to Arkansas, and was married there in 1888 to John Adam Boydston. The above families are descendants of Argaleus Henderson II, then Ezekiel Henderson. I also found Samuel Henderson's family(wife Cynthia Parks apparently deceased-I don't know when she died, but could he have remarried? The three children living with him are quite a bit younger than all his other children I've found), and also James and Fannie Henderson's family all in Calhoun Co. Ms. On one message, I believe in the Rootsweb list, I read that Argaleus moved to Arkansas. But I didn't follow up on it, so don't know which Argaleus it was, or where he moved to. I guess that's my next step. To find out if that's how Josephine eneded up in Arkansas. Who is this Josephene? Thanks KL Carpenter

    3. I have quite a lot of information on Argaleus I and his family. I don't have as lot of information on the Argaleus II branch of the family but I do have a son, Als Berry born to James Henderson and Mary White on January 25, 1851 in Serepta, Calhoun County, Mississippi. He married Nancy Jane Tillman in Calhoun County, MS on December 3, 1876. (The ceremony took place on the plantation of M.G. Longtrips). All of their children were born in Calhoun County, Mississippi as far as I can determine. (I plan to do a census study of Argaleus II and his children in the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1901 census records later this year. I'll hopefully have more information on the families after that study). The only Josephine I can find in Mississippi in 1880 is the daughter of Samuel Henderson born to Argaleus and Rachel Jane Hughes in 1825 in Shelby County, AL. Samuel married Cynthia Martha Parks in Lafayette County, Mississippi on February 6, 1850. She and Samuel were both dead before 1880. But their children were likely raised by other family members. She was born in Banner, Calhoun County, Mississippi on October 25, 1852 and would be too old to be the one you reference. The only other Josephine I have in my database was born in 1863 but she was in Alabama in 1880. Your evaluation of the children listed with Mary and Robert makes sense to me - I do have a Robert H. shown as a son of James and Mary White Henderson. I don't show the children Elmer V. and Albert tho'. BTW James was born in Greenville District, South Carolina and Mary was born in Tennessee. There is no record of Argaleus going to Arkansas. He died in Jun 1860 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. Now there were descendants of Argaleus Henderson I that are known to have moved to Pike County, Arkansas. It is possible that your Josephine moved there because of ties to that family. I have the Pike County, Arkansas branch of Argaleus's family fairly well documented if you are interested. g.mo Morris Myers -----Original Message----- From: KL Carpenter [mailto:komeeco@home.com] Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2001 10:36 AM To: HENDERSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HENDERSON] Descendants of Argaleus in Ms Can anyone shed any light on these Henderson's I found on the 1880 census in Calhoun Co.
