Ronald E. Henderson, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1926, to Elmer and Anna (Landsinger) Henderson in Woodland Township, Sauk County, Wis., and grew to adulthood in the Valton area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the Battleship USS Wisconsin. Ronald was united in marriage to Eva Borland on June 15, 1949, at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, enjoying 55 years of marriage. They lived in the Yuba area for 52 years, moving to Hillsboro three years ago. Ronald worked for Curtis Farms, Badger Ordinance and Grede Foundries. He was talented with creating arts and crafts and enjoyed woodworking. He also liked to go fishing and hunting. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, along with the Men's Fellowship group, the Church Choirs and the Thrift Store. He sang with the Yuba and Hillsboro Czech Singers. Ronald was a life member of the VFW Post 2267 at Richland Center. Survivors include his wife, Eva of Hillsboro; children, Jeane (Kirk) Dempsey of Jacksonville, Fla., Rhonda (Roger) Peterson of Windsor, Wis., and Donnel Henderson of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Joe (Loanna) Dempsey, Boston Shaw, Connor Shaw, Manny Henderson and Nicole Fike Henderson; a great-grandson, Brett Dempsey; a brother, Kenneth (Rita) Henderson of Cresco, Iowa; and four sisters, Lucille (Joseph) Bruha of Hillsboro, Marjorie Kahler of Hillsboro, Evelyn (Claine) Judd of Madison and Emma (Lee) Corn of Evansville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Donald Ehler officiating. Burial will be in East Pine Cemetery near Yuba. Friends may call at Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The family requests that memorials may be directed for First Congregational Church.
