He was born in England, approximately 1819, and later immigrated to America (dates unknown). He fought in the Civil War, probably for the confederacy as he lived in or around Virgina at the time. This also means he was in America before 1861. James lived to be about 90 years old and had five children, one of which is my grandfather Jerry Henderson b. 1894. (Yes! James was in his 70s when Jerry was born!) The other children's names were Jake (Jacob?) David (possibly John David), Stella and Betty. I have scraped these bits together from my famliy but its still very sketchy. I'm interested in learning more about his Civil War service and family connections in England.
