She worked mostly with her husband Louis Swan (as "Radio Dot And Smokey") until their divorce in the mid '50s. I believe they appeared for a while on the famous WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling, West Virginia, as well as other smaller stations in the Virginia and West Virginia areas. At one time they even had several records on the market, released on the MGM label (no hits however). During their association with Ernest Tubb in Nashville in the late '40s, they made guest appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and appeared in Ernest's movie "Hollywood Barn Dance" (1947) in which they sang a couple of songs. Remarkably, that picture is still in print and is now on DVD. If you're interested in seeing footage of Radio Dot and Smokey performing, you can purchase the movie through the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville. After Dot's music career ended, she stayed close to her many friends in the music business by opening a Nashville c! lub located on what later became known as "Music Row". "The Professional Club" was specially geared toward music industry personnel and Dot owned and operated it until her death from heart failure on December 26, 1972 at the age of 56.-JH Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
