In Loving Memory of FRANCES B. HENDERSON. June 9, 1915 - Feb. 11 2008 Frances was born in Portland, OR, and lived in Huntington Park, CA where she met her husband, Sewall Henderson, in high school. Married at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in 1936, the family settled in Whittier. Frances was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Mathias, the Friendly Hills Women's Club, and a Board member of the Southern California Women's Golf Association. Golf was her passion, and she played well into her 80's. She was loved and admired by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her two daughters, Gayle Henderson, of Scottsdale, AZ and Joan H. Whitney of Redmond WA, her grandchildren, Dana Stevens and Bradley Stevens and great grandsons. Private services were held Friday, February 15th at St Matthias. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations, in memory of Fran, to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research. www.michaeljfox .org Published in the Whittier Daily News on 2/19/2008. Hi Robert, I can't help you with this particular query, but will be looking forward to see what reply's you may get. I have been monitoring this list for many years and you are one of the few to mention Scottish Henderson's. I have no idea how prevalent the Henderson surname was in that area of Scotland, but have a Robina Henderson that married into the family of my Kennedy ancestors from Kirkcudbrightshire in the late 1700's. In addition my great-great grandfather, Mathew Henderson (born at Ross-Cromarty, Scotland ?), married a Kennedy from this same family from Kirkcudbrightshire. By the time they married both were living in America. I've often wondered if these two families had ties with one another over many generations. Another coincidence is your middle name Cunningham.
