I have some info for you. Robert Franklin Henderson DOES list himself in 1880 as J.M. Henderson. This is why no one could find him in the 1880 census. I DO believe that these are the initials of his father and that he's using them for some reason. Just thought I'd touch base. Children and dates are the same and he lists himself as being born in SC. Same man, different name. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I found a Frank A. Henderson who was born and died the exact date that was stated by my grandmother. His grave was in the exact town where my great aunt (his daughter, Firn) was born. I ordered the death certificate and it came this weekend. I ripped it open excitedly! It was better than I could have dreamed. It stated his name as Frank Artter Henderson. The 1920 census shows my great-grandmother living with a Frank Artter with her children and then the 1930 she is remarried to Paul Wendorff but her children (Ralph and Firn) are listed with the surname Artter. This always confused me. I started to think that maybe my grandmother had made a mistake about her father's last name. It turns out that my grandmother had only had my great-grandfather's middle name wrong. It is Artter not Aaron. The death certificate also had his mother's maiden name spelled Katherene Whittaker. The informant of the death was his daughter from his first marriage, Beulah Plankinton. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
