Posted on: Henderson Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Henderson/1090 Surname: Henderson, Boyd ------------------------- Sorry I can't give you much information on the Henderson-Boyd connection. The only name that sortof rings a bell is the Levi. Margaret Boyd lived in the Uriah Henderson household at Dunbar Fayette Co PA at the time of the 1850 census. Uriah and family move by 1854 to Florid-Putnam Co Illinis and I don't believe Margaret came with them but I can't be sure of this. Margaret Boyd was 50 at the time of the census in Dunbar. I have a theory that maybe Margaret Boyd was the widowed mother of Uriah's wife Eliza Hartman. I found the Hartman/Boyd connection in Westmoreland and although it didn't pertain specifically to my Eliza and Margaret it might give a plausible explanation as to Margaret's place in the Henderson home. Also I found that when Uriah and Eliza settle here in Putnam Co Ill they have a little girl who only lives about a year but her name is Margaret which makes me think that the elderly Margaret was indeed a family member of some sort. The census at Dunbar said Margaret was Irish. If I come across something more substantial I will post it and please contact me if you should come across some information that would connect our families.

THIS IS FORWARDED TO OUR HENDERSON LIST FOR CAROL Original Message From granny@cp-tel.net (Carol Wells) Hinshaw's Quaker records give many facts about the Quaker Hendersons of VA, NC, and SC, and about those who left SC and went north. The family memoir written by the Rev. J.E.W. Henderson is the source that puts the isolated Quaker Hendersons into their families. Unluckily, the Rev. Henderson's memory was no better than the memories of any of the rest of us as we grow older and try to tell our families about the past. Now that his genealogy has put the generations in order, his several little mistakes can be corrected by official records. Richard Henderson was born about 1710 or 1715 in the part of Hanover County, VA, that later became Louisa County, and was probably the youngest child of William Henderson who died 1845. Richard married Elizabeth whose last name is not known. She was very likely a Branson, but no proof exists. Their children were William who married Ann Leakey in 1767 and died 1816. His wife and any children predeceased him. His heir was his niece Anna Holliday who died unmarried, her estate being divided among her brothers and sisters. Sarah (not Lydia; she had a daughter Lydia. This is one of the Rev. Henderson's little memory slip-ups.) She married William Holliday. Nathaniel married 1762 Rebecca Tornton. He died 1803 leaving a will in Edgefield, SC. John married Rachel Thornton Thomas married out of unity 1767 Elizabeth. MOved to Franklin, Indiana. Samuel. Never married. Shadrack married Eleanor Holiday. All the above children were born before 1755; the following after 1755 according to the 1800 census. Hannah, married James Rushton/Ruston. James married Eleanor. Richard married Rachel Thornton [a different girl from the Rachel that his brother John married] Nathan married --- Haralson. The Rev. Henderson included a last child, Rachel Henderson. I have found no trace of such a daughter and believe she may really have been a daughter of one of Quaker Richard Henderson's sons. I wish to thank the person who shared the writings of the Rev. James Elbert Washington Henderson with the late Jim Henderson, and am grateful to Jim for sharing the bible record with other researchers. I have more, in some cases much more, about the sons and daughters of Quaker Richard Henderson which I am happy to share with interested people. Carol Wells

Posted on: Henderson Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Henderson/1082 Surname: ------------------------- Hi, Yes, I do have a Henry Henderson with a Frank Henderson. Did you get the info about Henry Henderson? I also have an Arthur Henderson? I will have to find them. The ones in Tn. belong to Lucy Henderson Horton who wrote a book about the Hendersons. She seems to be related to Alexander Martin and other Martins in NJ., Drummonds in Va. m. Martin. I think they are with a Thomas Henderson, Nathaniel Henderson and William Henderson of Hawkins Co. Tn. came here from Henry Co. Va. with Thomas Henderson-there seems to be two Thomas Hendersons in Pittsylvania, Va. and Henry Co., Amhurst Co. Va. Here are the names Samuel Henderson and Lucy Richmond/Rykeman, may have come from Albany, NY. #2064 b. 1759 d. 1828, Samuel Henderson and Hughes, Rachel J. b. 8 Oct. 1804 d. 9 Dec. 1884 lived in Knoxville, Tn., Samuel Henderson #2091 m. Morton, Florence put in by Smith in H536 list. There was a Henry Henderson who put in the names for James Henderson and Martha Hamilton who were listed in Greene Co. Tn. with Samuel Henderson and Jean Craig and John Henderson and Rose Finley, children of Wm Henderson and Margaret Bruce who lived here in Tn. As far as I can tell most belong to Sir John Henderson. There was someone listed with Garland as middle name. As you can see I don't have my papers but will get them together. It is this Lucy Henderson #2074 m. Gillespie, T. put in by Smith and Lucy Henderson Horton m. Henry C. #2094 b. 14 Jan. 1851. Lucy Henderson #1978 m. Sneed Richard put in by Smith. The book is here in Knoxville and I will be going soon to Archives to get info. Also there is a book by Palmer which maybe of help. I found a Richard Henderson and Elizabeth list in Boston b. 1670-74 Boston, Ma. child Richard Henderson b. June 20, 1694 Boston, Ma. I believe this is the earliest Richard that I have found. There was also a Wm Henderson in Me lived where Navy Base, Wm Henderson in Boston, Ma. with George. They were also in NH. I don't know if these are the same ones but do know I found them on Fishe in LDS. We can't seem to make out all these Richard Henderson and Elizabeth, there seems to be too many of them. Have you ever found a Richard Henderson up there? Some people thinks it isn't true and this David Eaton Henderson put too much in. I don't know abou this but am trying to find out. I do know there was a Col. Eaton with Judge Richard Henderson in NC. listed in some of his papers from NC. I also have James H. Henderson and Garner, Lillie m. b. 8 Jul 1874 d. 18 Feb. 1974 put in by Smith, James M. Henderson #1053 Penn, Lucinda F. 22 Nov. 1841 d. 11 Nov. 1930, James J. Henderson #3594 m. Jean Murry by Smith. There was a Mary Smith who put this in to someone. It said this is the Index. Soundex. I know this is true since I found mine in Or. with H536 listed above his name so mine must be listed here but haven't found it yet. Here is JOhn Strickland m. Elizabeth Henderson #2072 put in by Smith lived in Patterson, NJ. Here is William Lee Alexander m. Elizabeth Henderson dau. of Judge Richard Henderson #1937 put in by Smith b. 1770 She must have been doing all the research about these people. She was looking for her Smiths in Greenville, Tn. Posted on: Henderson Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Henderson/1077 Surname: Henderson, Hartman, Clemems, McCormick, Blackledge, Crabb, Smith, Johnson ------------------------- Our Uriah Henderson's death certificate said he was of Irish decent. The earliest we know of him he is in Washington Co PA in 1838 when he marries Eliza Hartman. They settle in Fayette Co PA where Uriah is a shoemaker by trade. They have the following children: Isaac, Samuel, Alexander, Joseph, Uriah Jr, and Sarah E. and possibly Morgan when they come to Putnam Co Illinois around 1854. Uriah's military record states he was born in NC but other records say PA so we don't know if the military record is in error or the other accounts. The McCormicks, Blackledges, and Crabbs we believe were connected to them in some way in PA. The little community where they settle in Illinois has families by the name of Cassell, Smith, Johnson that we believe may have known each other prior to the Florid, Putnam Co Illinois settlement. We are looking for the Progenitor of the Uriah Henderson line. Any help is most welcome.
