I am interested in finding the one whose brother Samuel fought in the American Revolution in a York county, SC, company although he was a North Carolina man. FORWARDED TO OUR HENDERSON MAILING LIST Message From granny@cp-tel.net (Carol Wells) Any dates of birth, marriage, death for the children of Quaker Richard Henderson are mostly estimates based on later census records. Richard's own dates are not documented. His son Nathaniel, given as born 1740, is a guess of ABOUT 1740. Actually, I have Nathaniel born "prior 1755". I have most of Quaker Richard's children listed simply as before or after 1755. Here they are- Hannah MAYBE born about 1759, 1763? William, MAYBE about 1740 to 1747 (based on date of his marriage in 767) Sarah (shown as Lydia by Rev.Henderson's account) born MAYBE 1742 Nathaniel born prior 1755 married 22 Dec 1762 (Quaker record) so born ABOUT 1740 John born prior 1755, MAYBE about 1746 since he was reported married in 1789. A condemnation for misconduct may have been made some time after the deed itself. John died aged 90 in Connersville, Fayette County, Indiana, but I don't have the date of his death. With the date of his death, his birth could be estimated. Thomas, born 1755 since he married out of unity 1767. Samuel was born prior 1755 Shadrack was born prior 1755 James was born after 1755, maybe more or less 1760. Richard was born 1761. Nathan was born between 1755 and 1774, probably in the early 1760s. I am not at all sure that a daughter Rachel ever existed. Looking at the number of Richard's children who were born before 1755, and estimating their births at two year intervals gives a rough estimate of Richard's own birth. One of our troubles is our tendency to want exact dates. Since we tend to omit the "circa" when copying information and instead give hard & fast dates, we skew the results. I will welcome any firm dates that can be shown by documentary evidence for any of the above Hendersons. Carol Wells

Posted on: Henderson Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Henderson/1097 Surname: HENDERSON ------------------------- This is not my lineage; therefore, no independent research. However, from data that I have picked up from others, I show that Richard Henderson and Elizabeth ??Branson?? were married about 1735 and about means about that because there are no records as far as I know. Their children were born in the 1740s and later which means that their marriage had to be earlier. Wish I could be of more help.

Posted on: Henderson Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Henderson/1095 Surname: Henderson, Hollingsworth ------------------------- I have been looking for a Delpha Henderson, born around the same time in SC who married Jacob Hollingsworth, Jr. I know it is a different Delpha Henderson than the Martha Delphia Henderson because she is listed as the wife of Jacob Hollingsworth Jr, in the 1820, 1850 and 1855 Pickens County, Alabama, censuses. This particular Jacob Hollingsworth Jr. is the son of Jacob Hollingsworth Sr. who is the son of Joseph Hollingsworth, who is the son of Thomas, who is the son of Valentine Sr., son of Henry and Katheran. My Delpha Henderson and Jacob Jr. Hollingsworth, who started off living in old Craven Co., SC, moved to Pickens Co., AL, with their son Daniel Jackson Hollingsworth. D.J. was born in the late 1820s, I think it was 1827 in Pickens Co., AL. There are records of them in Reform, AL, and they were buried at the Reform, AL cemetery. I would like to know if Delpha was a Quaker, and, if so, when did her and Jacob Jr. leave the Quakers or did they? I have no idea when they stopped attending meetings, or if they did and just packed up and moved or what. Thank you for any info! Cheryl Hollingsworth cheryliz@directlink.net
