One was from Dugginsville, MO and the other from either Peel or Yellville, AR. Also, seeking info on Dallas HENDERSON who md Ella MERRIMAN (Mary A's older sister). Is Dallas buried at the Peel Cemetery or in MO? Who is the MITCHELL that md Ella after Dallas HENDERSON died? Were they md in MO or AR before going to OK or did the MITCHELL and Ella meet in OK and marry there? Dallas and Ella had three children to live to adulthood; Jimmy, who disappeared in OK, Alice, and Walsie. Appreciate any kick - back on these allusive ancestors. Thanks, Lois
I've been working on my Shetland Henderson line for several months now, and I have them in a single line all the way back to at least 1760, and really going back to the 1740s. Right now, I'm looking at possibly expanding my efforts to include what may become a comprehensive overview of the history of the Hendersons in the Shetland Islands. Since most of these Hendersons most likely descend from one man, Henry Williamson and his son Magnus Henderson, it would make sense to attempt to sort out how the different branches came into being. So, if you have information that you want to share, or information that you are looking for, email me and I will see what I can do. Eventually, I may have to start an independent listserv to facilitate the collection of this information, and I will do so if I see enough interest expressed. -- Douglas Flummer Carbondale, Illinois "You will ever remember that all the end of study is to make you a good man and a useful citizen. This will ever be the sum total of the advice of your affectionate father." -- John Adams, in a letter to John Quincy Adams, 1781

At least, I have not heard of him with that name. I know my J. C. was in the militia but he had moved to TX by that time - but he could have been in MO during the war. I have not heard about an injury. Did your Frances die from the injury? I know my J. C. lived until 1893 and is buried in OK. The thing that is really curious for me is the Briscoe name. My J.C.'s second wife was Nancy Jane Briscoe who came from MO. Is the Briscoe farm you mentioned in MO? There were alot of Briscoes in TX - they all came from MO. I am corresponding with a decendant of the Briscoe line. Would be glad to get you two together. I also have alot of info on his family because I have been trying to help him research it. Please email me at smitheyb@worldnet.att.net. Hope to hear from you soon. Brenda

However, I believe there is one son left out. My ggggg-grandfather was Samuel Henderson, whom I believe to be their son. I believe this based on an entry in ancestry.com (DAR site): he National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 128 page 303 Mrs. Pearl Mcpherson Williams. DAR ID Number: 127953 Born in Hope, Ark. Wife of Jan Williams. Descendant of Maj. Samuel Henderson, as follows: 1. Samuel H. McPherson (1841-85) m. 1869 Sarah Ellen Henderson (b. 1852). 2. Samuel T. Henderson (1814-85) m. 1836 Belinda Bland (1815-74). 3. Samuel Henderson, Jr. (1784-1841), m. 1809 Sarah J. Bush (1785-1859). 4. Samuel Henderson m. 1776 Elizabeth Calloway. Samuel Henderson (1746-1826) was soldier, member of legislature, major and commissary, N. C. He was born in Granville County, N. C.; died in Winchester, Tenn. Since DAR verified that Samuel was their son, I would think this is enough verification. Would like to hear from anyone else who is descended from Samuel and Elizabeth or Samuel and his wife Sarah Bush.

Surnames: Henderson, Martin, Kirby, Tisdale, Beaver Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/yNi.2ACEB/4125 Message Board Post: I'm looking for any information on Shadrack Henderson, whose will was probated in Nelson Co., Virginia, in 1811, and any information on his children. The will gives his wife's name as "May" (perhaps an error for Mary) and lists his children as - Sally Martin [md. George Martin in 1794] Barbary (Barbara) Martin [md. Elisha Martin in 1795] Joseph Henderson John Henderson Mary Tisdel [md. Robert Tisdale in 1804] Nancy Kirby [apparently md. James Kirby in 1806] Lucy Beaver William Henderson In particular, I would be especially interested in any evidence that any of these "children" of Shadrack Henderson were known by the surname MARTIN (aside from the marriages of Sally and Barbara to Messrs. Martin). I have several reasons to suspect that Shadrack was the second husband of the wife May/Mary named in his will; that May/Mary's first husband was a Mr. Martin; and that at least three of Shadrack's "children" (i.e., John, Nancy, and William) are known by the surname (or maiden name) MARTIN in certain records of the period. These reasons are described on my Web site, at http://va.genealogy.tripod.com/martin.htm A transcription of Shadrack's will is at http://va.genealogy.tripod.com/shadrack.txt Thank you!
