Co. VA. John & Isabella had a daughter Jane Henderson who married Matthew Russell in Rockbridge Co. VA. Isabella's parents were John Houston & Margaret Cunningham. John Houston brought his family to Pennsylvania where he remained for several years, until his 3 eldest children were married, then moved to Rockbridge Co, VA, and settled on part of the Burden Track. Robert Houston, Isabella Houston's brother, was grandfather of Gen & Gov. Samuel Houston.

The book offers no proof. I have also seen where these same Augusta County Hendersons were descended from the early Hendersons of Tidewater VA. Again, no proof. It makes more sense that the Hendersons of Augusta County came from PA as that was the general migration route. (As an aside, "my" Hendersons of Onslow Co NC supposedly were descended from James Henderson, also of the Eastern Shore (Accomac VA/Somerset MD), but from bible, church, land , and wills, I have found that not to be the case. Bottom line, unless and until you find proof by way of deeds, wills, or bibles, be leery of any relationships) Robin

I do know there is more than one Andrew Russell. There were 3 Andrew Russells that lived in Augusta Co. VA at the same time. One Andrew Russell c. 1710-1780 married Florence Henderson. The 2nd Russell family was Bryce Russell c 1728-c1810 who married Rachel and had a son Andrew c1764 who married Agnes Martin. The 3rd Andrew Russell family (mine) was called Andrew of Long Meadow b. ca. 1735. He had a son- Matthew Russell born c 1759-1831 who md. Jane Henderson c1788 in Rockbridge Co. VA.. Jane was born 1765. It has been shown that her parents were John & Isabella (Houston) Henderson from PA, and of Augusta Co., VA (info from Morton, Rockbridge County History) Does anyone else have these same parents as John & Isabella (Houston) Henderson?

He was born in Knoxville, Tenn. on 8/4/1826. He died in Ohio Township in Kansas. I don't know any other information but that. May be were talking about the same Daniel, as my Daniel had a grandson named Daniel Robert Henderson. Daniel Robert was my grandfather, and he named my dad Robert. So, the likeness in names is there. My great grandfather was William Jackson Henderson. His wife was Martha Witcher Springer, daughter of Aaron Springer and Barbara Jones. Both William and Martha were born in Smith Co. Tenn. Their children were born in Macon Co.,TN. William served in the Civil War under a Major Golden Meador. I have tried to find his parents for some time but have had no luck.
