    1. Joseph P. Henderson born 1791 VT/ME/NY?>NY>OH>MI War of 1812
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yNi.2ACEB/5472 Message Board Post: Joseph P. Henderson was born April 6, 1791 in Vermont. He enlisted in in Captain John w. Weeks 11th regiment at Claremont, Cheshire County, Vermont on January 29, 1813 for eighteen months. On June 30, 1814 he was on the muster rolls in the hospital in Brownsville, NY and discharged 15 Sept 1814 at Greenbush, New York. Joseph married Laura Woodard in 1810. The pension application said Laura died 1820. Joseph married second Susannah Story in November 1830 in Parmelia (Farmelie?), St. Lawrence County, NY. The index of the federal census of Ontario County, NY in 1820 has six Henderson heads of household: Benjamin in Springwater Town, David in Milo, James in Freeport, Richard in Milo, Samuel in Freeport, and Thomas in Perinton. I'm not sure Joseph was born in Ontario County. One census said he was born in Vermont, another said he was born in Maine.

    1. Obituary of Harry B. Henderson of Wyoming
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Henderson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yNi.2ACEB/5466 Message Board Post: Unfortunately, I don't have the date or name of the newspaper from which I obtained this clipping. H. B. Henderson, State Pioneer, Expires at 79 Harry B. Henderson Sr., pioneer Wyoming resident, died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon at Memorial hospital from the effects of a heart attack, following an operation performed last week. Outstanding in civic affairs, Henderson, who was 79 at the time of his death, was known and highly respected all over Wyoming where he had made his home since 1884. He is survived by a son, Harry B. Henderson Jr., prominent Cheyenne attorney; a granddaughter, Jane, and eight brothers and sisters, all residents of Pennsylvania. Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Schrader mortuary, were incomplete last night. Henderson was born on a farm near South Bend, Pa. Following a short course in a business college, Henderson entered a national contest to submit forms for municipal and county bookkeeping. With the first prize money of $500 he purchased a ticket to Rawlins. In Dec. 3, 1890 he married Vivia Ada Buck, who died in Cheyenne on Dec. 19, 1938. The year of his marriage, Henderson became owner of one of the richest gold mines in Montana. Lack of financial assistance forced him to relinquish control of the mine which later became one of the richest producers in the country. During the days of the volunteer fire departments Henderson was a member of the group of young men in Rawlins who organized a department there, and he became a champion sprinter in the days of interstate contests between similar volunteer groups. In 1894, following his appointment by the governor as state examiner, he moved with his family to Cheyenne. He served in this capacity until 1910 when he resigned to accept the management of the Wyoming Trust and Savings Bank, a position which he held for 10 years. During this time armed bandits held up the bank and captured Henderson, who refused to acceed to their demands despite being fired at. He organized and served with the Wyoming Stockman's Loan Co., as director for several years, while working in the bank. In 1920 he became manager for the Wyoming, Montana and Colorado division of the Denver Joint Stock Land bank, a position which he held until he retired to go into the investment business. Active in all community affairs, Henderson was a leading member of the First Presbyterian church, and a charter member of the chamber of commerce and the Young Men's Literary club. During World War I he had charge of the state campaigns for the sale of Liberty bonds and served as secretary of the Wyoming Bankers association of which he was one of the original founders.
