    1. HENDERSON's Arriving Canada, 1820's
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has ever made a list of all the HENDERSON's who came to Canada "before 1830." My William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON came over with a "family group" of other KERR's and HENDERSON's in 1823 (or 1823 to 1827), and went directly to Quebec Province. I was wondering if anyone has ever found a connection between William HENDERSON and his brother, Samuel HENDERSON, (born 1780's County Sligo, Ireland), with the HENDERSON's who came over in 1820's or 1830's and settled initially in New Brunswick or Nova Scotia? FYI: Of all the researchers who are researching the approx. 40 children of the family-group of KERR's and HENDERSON's, no one has been able to find proof that they were born in County Sligo, but several researchers believe that they were. But, we are all willing to consider nearby parts of Ireland. Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA)

It might be simpler to correspond directly by E-mail. My address is [email protected] I am still struggling with discarding my Jefferson Williams, but I am sure you are right. The material you posted clearly proved that Davis had brothers Daniel and Joseph. What is the best way to show that they all were sons of the Daniel who married Ann Henderson? I realize you did not specifically suggest it, but I am presuming then that the Davis Williams who inherited land from Jefferson Williams is the one buried in Hurricane Co. What then is the connection with the Davis family? I did not see it from your earlier posting. I am glad you had the other three children of Davis and Abigail. The reason I mentioned it is that your posting ended with Thomas Jefferson Williams born 1805 as the last child. The last one I have is Phillip born 1811. If you want any information on the Morris Gwin who married my wife's Rhoda Williams, I'll be happy to supply it. Are you a descendant of Davis and Abigail? I was delighted to read the story of the grandfather clock. Joseph B. Lambert

Mike said as memory serves me that Posey Montgomery always said Isaac was the son of Isaac, no proof in their lines either and this is exactly what needs to be done to prove this with dna, as far as I know Posey Montgomery is still alive, Mike will know and can put you in touch with a living Henderson (male) for the dna, call him. I only came upon your ancestry of Davis recently. I had been looking for that for a long time. You have his parents as Daniel Williams and Ann Henderson. I had concluded his father was Jefferson Williams, but on the very thin evidence that in 1801 Davis sold land in Edgefield Distr., SC, that had originally belonged to Jefferson Davis (whose wife was Frances, and Davis named children both Jefferson and Frances; and Martha Stringer also named a son Jefferson). My main question then is, How certain is the evidence that Davis's father was Daniel? By the way, I have three more children of Davis, born 1807-1811. My wife's connection is from Davis's daughter Rhoda, who married Morris Gwyn. They moved to Fayette Co., AL, where their track is clear to the present (my wife came from there).
