My mother was born in Rockford,Illinois in either 1901 or 02. Her sister, Eva was born in Chacota, Oklahoma 1903 or 04. They lived in Kansas City Mo. when their mother Mary Carolyn Johnson Hendershot Stevens died. She is buried in Kansas City. The girls were sent to Pontiac to live with and aunt and Uncle. My mother was 16 when her mother died. What ever happened to Mr. Stevens we don't know or why he didn't take care of my mother or her sister. Mysteries we can't seem to solve.
