    2. Hi Barbara; Please send me the information again that you are questioning and say you have proof it is different. Tell me what record you found a Wm. Minegar and not a Michael, md to Mary Alice. If I understand your note correctly. I will forward it to Frank Hendershot one of our experts and I am sure he will have some info for you as to its authenticity. Will send info on disk and other questions later. Thanks, Karen in Pa.

Henderson Revised edition pg 215. This is the information that has me confused. I don't have the book but can get it at the library. Since I only have one Hendershot in my line I thought the book was a little expensive especially sine the information as it applies to me is incorrect. Let me know about the Hendershot news letter. This is something I would be interested in. Also tell me about the disc. Barbara gorgine@aol.com

    2. Karen, how accurate is the Hendershot? When it comes to Mary Hendershot who married William Menear there is a problem. But from many other sources that state Mary Hendershot married William Menear, not Michael, I have proved this to be so. But would love to fine a record of the marriage. Barbara gorgine@aol.com Hi Barbara; I don't know what you are asking me the accuracy of. The Hendershot Ancestors book by Wm. E. Do you have it? If this is the source of your question please give me the page to look at OK? If you have proven that this marriage is with Mary is to Wm or Michael, that is the type of information we put in our newsletter and do additions and corrections to. Do you know the Hendershot Researchers also have Wm E's book on disk so it is easier to make the APPROVED corrections. Karen in Pa.

However, I must say with much regret that the BARON VON HAYDER connection was a complete fabrication by a mischievous member of the family in the 1880s. I spent considerable time in the 1970s trying to trace this, and I found that Cleveland Hendershot, who invented the story, did not have a scrap of evidence for the claim. It was an unpleasant surprise for me, since I had believed it from the time I was a child. The name and family HAYDERSCHATT was from Luxembourg, and they became extinct in the male line in the mid-1600s. I found a count in Paris whose ancestors inherited their estates -- which no longer exist. If we are ever to find other noble ancestors, we are going to have to work long and hard, and spend a lot of money. We share Casper, but my line comes from Christophers brother Peter b.1733, Peter 1775, Peter 1813, William Henry 1842, eter Harcourt 1881, Winnifred 1907, marr. John Ruch Sr. 1928 -- all remained in Welland Co. Christopher went broke, and emigrated to Peel County, Upper Canada (now Ontario) Canada about 1805. Many of his descendants either did not come with him or moved back to the U.S. John Ruch --------------D223C45F73B719830DE07BB8--

    3. My only Hendershot interest is Harvey Hendershot, who married Elizabeth Baker. Elizabeth Baker was b. Jan. 7, 1833. Her father was Benjamin Baker. I am trying to determine who her mother was. I suspect Sarah Winland, daughter of Jacob Winland, based on the evidence of Elizabeth Hendershot (and her three elder siblings) being named in the legal documents dealing with Jacob Winland's will after the death of their mother. I am hoping that some Hendershot researcher may have an obituary of Elizabeth which would name her mother or other relatives, which might help. Eliz.'s father remarried in 1844 to Katharine Farnsworth, however he has three children prior to 1844 & after 1833, & we don't know who their mother was. Possibly they were Katharine's from a prior marriage? Or his from an interim marriage? Perhaps some descendants/researchers of Harvey Hendershot can help. Thanks! Sandy Frykholm frykholm@olypen.com
