London, Kentucky December 29, 1949 WILLIAM BRUMMETT CLAIMED BY DEATH Mr. William Brummett, 74 years old, died at 4:30 o'clock Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fannie Taylor, at Blackwater following a stroke. His death was unexpected. A farmer, Mr. Brummett was born Dec. 22, 1875 in Harlan County, the son of Chappell and Nancy Helton Brummett. He was married to Miss Rebecca Thompson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Brummett was a member of the Baptist Church and had resided in Harlan, Knox and Laurel counties. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Taylor, Blackwater; Mrs. Elizabeth Batten, California; Mrs. Nancy Smith, Corbin; Mrs. Lutisie Simpson, Wallins Creek; and one son, Henry Brummett, Corbin. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bruner of Indiana; and Mrs. Matilda Perry of Jellico, Tenn; two brothers, Garfield Brummett of Corbin and James Brummett of Harlan; twenty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home Monday and interment followed in the Dorthae Cemetery at Dorthae by the House Funeral Home.
