NC and Susanna (Winkler) b. PA Helton Wallace Willis b. TN and Nancy A. (Hale) Helton b. TN James Beachem b. KY 2nd. wife Mary Jane (Kelso) b. IN Helton Sarah Patrick (Helton) and Benjamin Franklin Burroughs Morgan Co., IN Peter Marion b. Maryville, MO and Lula Viola (Mills) Burroughs Floretta Viola (Burroughs) b. Shambaugh, IA and Vincent V.(middle initial only) Farr b. Atlanthus Grove, MO Marva Lee (Farr) Bonney and Charles Lee Mullen LiRae Wyoming Skye (Mullen) and Marshall "Marty" Lee Sullins It has been handed down that either Wallace W.'s wife or mother and/or grandmother was a full blooded Native American (told Cherokee because of the area they were all from). Can anyone help me with this? My gr-grandfather, "Peter Marion BURROUGHS", definitely resembled a Native American. Thanks in advance.<< My afore mentioned Peter was a Burroughs...his mother being the Helton. I KNOW they were Native American, and I KNOW they were Cherokee (TOO many stories handed down to NOT believe it), mainly due to the area so many of them were born in; western NC, eastern TN. I just cannot find the actual Native names in the family. I have a photo of Sarah (Helton) and Ben Burroughs...but, need to search my photos for a 5 generation pic w/Peter Burroughs in it. I attend a bunch of local pow wows and I'm constantly asked 'where do you get your blood?'. I just say "I don't know, yet, but I'm still researching until I do find out." And when I used to go in Native American chat rooms, and was asked to leave when I couldn't actually give my lines, one very old, wonderful Native told me and the entire room, "it didn't matter if I couldn't name my blood, family names nor clan, as long as I had my family stories and knew the tribe itself, believed in my blood, I was of the blood and therefor accepted in the room". And, my oldest son's nicknames are "Billy the Kid"(naturally lol), "The Indian" or "The Indian Kid"....and yet, we run very heavy with Irish, Scotts, German, Welsh and British blood, too. ;-) Yeah, I really look all of those in the attached pic and so does my oldest son...oldest daughter is an adorable, petite strawberry blond...and I swear her son's hair is nearly orange!
