Richard, Tried to reply straight to you but it bounced! I don't have anything in my FTM file about Mary Byrd and James Helton. Do you know where James and Mary born/married/died and get their birth, marriage and death certificates? What Census have you checked? Did you check your dad's social security file out - this will cost. You can get his whole file for $20+ or just his card application for under$10. But in your situation I would get his whole file. This would give you all his work locations, living addresses and a copy of his death certificate and so much more info for you to work with. Your local SS office and also the internet at Cyndi's List and other sites like SS can tell you what to do. I have lots of the Family treemaker Cds and I am willing to look up stuff for you but I need some more info. Do you know who James Helton Parents' were or Mary's. Anything when, where, who, what, etc. It's funny I am a Hoosier Girl but I live in Bull Shoals, AR and I know where Rolla is, etc. There are some HELTON descendants in Texas (city Houston), Osage, Gasconde counties. And I do have some of their genealogy in another file. Vicky -- "Richard" <rhelton2000SPAMBLOCK@yahoo.com> wrote: I know little about my Helton side of the family. My dad died when I was 5 years old and all I know is what my mom relayed to me. My dad grew up in Maimi oklahoma where the family owned a number of homes. Apparently his family died about the time my mom married him as he was saleing these homes. My dad was Richard L. Helton son of James Helton and Mary (Byrd). My dad had a brother ERVING who related to be that the family had owned a tomatoe farm in the southwest of missouri where he james would farm all summer then in winter would go to rolla mo to work in the lead mines. He had a lot of kids several who died in differnt accidents on the farm ie wagon rolled over on icy road etc. I have seen a picture of him in the bar in Rolla with his workmates, very old west. I have been told that there is a great grandfather or great great grandfather who capt a mississippi steamer on the river and had several wifes in different ports. There may have been either a sister or an aunt of my dad also but the name escapes me right now. Something grey. This is the extent of my knowledge about the family It would have been around 1954 that my dad would have been selling the family homes in miami. There should be family burials in the towns cemitary also. I understand that my grandfather followed a brother out to california to work on the railroad he died of miners lung and is buried in the san francisco area. I have not found his grave yet. I hope someone can help Richard ----- Original Message ----- From: <vbair@juno.com> To: <HELTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2003 5:18 AM Subject: [Helton/Hilton] Re: James Helton or Mary Byrd Atten okla HELTONS > Richard, > > Could you fill us in a little more on your heltons as much as you know. > Sometimes in peoples files they have James Helton and wife Mary????
