His brother was my great great grandfather, William Helton. John Wesley was listed as a Mulatto in the 1880 census. He was born about 1870. His mother is listed as Sarah Helton. He married a woman named Cordia or Cordie about 1905 (she was listed as Black in the 1910 census). They had serveral children, one being Fred Helton who moved to New York.
