I am also not a Helton descendent, but one of my great-great uncles married into the Heltons. Milford M Sanders, born in Pickens District, South Carolina, in 1854, married two Sevier County, Tennessee, Heltons. Milford Sanders married Caroline Helton, and after Caroline's death, married Mary C."Kate" Helton, in Sevier County, Tennessee. I have a letter written by "M. Sanders and Kate" from Henderson Springs. Milford and family moved to Collin County, Texas in the 1890s. Milford and Caroline had at least one child before leaving Sevier County, Wm. J. According to Helton researchers, Milford and Kate had a daughter, Jane, who married John Inman. I have the letter written by Kate Helton Sanders, scanned, and will send you a copy if you like. PS. I am also related to the Lovedays that married into the Heltons.

I've been having some problems with getting online at my home computer, so am sending this from work. My Mother was Mary Faye Richardson, her brother was Clay (her favorite). Is your mothe Skippy? I hav not had the time to work the family tree for the past couple of years (job), I ran into problems with Grandma Richardson's side, she was reportedly 1/2 Osage; I believe her father to be Perry Helton but can not find reference to her mother who would have been full indian. I have been able to get the "family" back to VA, KY and TN through a variety of names (HELTON, CRISMON, CAPPS and others) in the early 1700's. There are a lot of conflicting sources of info on John Helton b 1763/64 and his two wives. The Helton info on my web site is as good as I have found in 22 years of research but needs to be confirmed with original sources that I have been unable to get or find. Bobbie the numbers I used on the website are ahnentafel numbers. If you are not familiar with ahnentafel, go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson3.htm#GEDCOM Ahnentafel. This is a German word meaning ancestor table. It is an efficient way to organize a pedigree for it creates a continuous list of ancestors instead of chart. It is particularly useful when corresponding with another genealogist because it allows him or her to see immediately where your genealogical research ends and also where your family and his or hers might have common ancestry. Many genealogy programs will create an Ahnentafel-style genealogy report for you. Note that if you double a number it gives you the father of that person; double the number, plus one, and you have the name of the mother. Go to my web site and see what I have on Helton/Hilton under addition to my pedigree chart. Bad health has kept me from adding to my website but I will share anything I have as health allows. I hope that with other descendants of John & Barbara or Mary, we can verify our family lines. Best Wishes, Leon Morris http://users.beanstalk.net/rokadane/morris/

I did find the information on the first marriage of Rebecca Boyett. She married Young L. Childree on 10 August 1882 in Escambia County Florida. A relative of his contacted me and told me he died in 1930 in Texas. He never remarried. I have not found any record of this marriage in the archives of the court. If the marriage was annulled, there probably won't be any record. Tis a mystery for sure. The relative that gave me the info on Young said his mother was a cook for the railroad gangs and they followed the work crews as they laid track. That is how they ended up in Texas. It may be that Rebecca didn't want that type of life, I don't know. It wasn't long after that she married John Helton. I do have a couple of pictures of her and she was a pretty woman. My mom has one of Aslean, and it is one of those hand colored ones that don't really look real. To my knowledge, there aren't any in the family. Those Aunt Hellen had were destroyed by vandals years ago. Again, I thank you for your help. Are you in the Pensacola area? Pam
