Surnames: Belcher Helton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IMi.2ACEB/1227 Message Board Post: Would like to ask for any assistance in locating the 1910 & 1920 US census reports for William (b. 1870) and Lucy (b. 1871) Helton. Both died in a family tragedy in 1935. I located them in 1900 US census in Leslie county and again in 1930 in US census in Rockcastle county. Both died in 1935. 1900 US census living with Lucy and William in Leslie County in the township of Marrowbone are: Salanio Helton daughter b. 08-1891 Modan Helton son b. 05-1894 Freemon Helton son b. 11-1899 Jonas Belcher (steps son Lucy's 1st marriage) b. 06-??-1889 James Belcher (steps son Lucy's 1st marriage) b. 10-??-1890 1930 US census living with Lucy and William in Rockcastle County in the township of Brodhead are: Matthew Helton son b. 1900 Ephraim Helton son b. 1914 Carlo Helton son b.1918 Most likely they would be in Leslie or Rockcastle county in 1910 and 1920 but might possibly be in Bell county or Harlan County. Thanks in advance for any help locating these two elusive census reports for them.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IMi.2ACEB/1143.1.1.1.1.1.1.2.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Jo Ann Promised I would get back to you as soon as I gathered up my info. Still gathering but will give you a bit now. My father was Claude Allen Howard born in Harlan County deaf and went to the Kentucky school for the Deaf. My grandparents were Benjamin Franklin Howard and Orpha Helton. My greatgrand parents were Elhanan Howard and Jane Alifair Howard. Elhanan died Jan 20, 1908 at the age of 48 of spinal menengtis and Jane married a Johnson and died June 7 1957 in Indiana. Jane's parents were Larkin Howard and Nancy Helton. I had Elhanan traced through one line and now find that is wrong. I am now not sure who Elhanan's parents were but now am leaning toward Benjamin Howard and Lucy Wilson. I trace the Howard's back to Thomas Howard Lettie Durham and the Heltons to Shadrick Helton and Mary "Polly" Brock. I am a descendent of Thomas Howard through several of his children including Rebecca Howard, John and Benjamin. Okay Shadrick Helton and Mary "Polly" Brock had a son Elisha brother to Elijah who married Juley Ann (Julie) Jackson Elisha and Juley had Nancy Helton who married Larkin Howard (see above for the rest of the story) they also had a son John who married Matilda Green and they had a son Elish Helton who married Louisa (Lootie) Jennings and they had my grandmother Orpha Helton. Elish Helton died of Typhoid Fever when my grandmother was around 4 years old and Lottie married a Colt Blanton and they had several children. Now John and Matilda also had a daughter Juli A. who married Stokley Helton. Stokley and Juli had children Alice, John, Louise, Josephine and Elijah. I received papers from the Kentucky School for the Deaf that states that Alice,John, Louise, Josephine attended school and were deaf. They also sent me information on a Samual Helton parents Willey and Nancy Johnson Helton. Samual attended the Deaf school and his father was suppose to be an uneducated deafmute and that said Samual was a nephew to Alice Louise, John, and Josephine. Jo Ann once you have digested this I hope to hear from you my e-mail is wvpratt1@verizon.net I figure it will be eaiser to keep in touch through e-mails where I can scan family group and pedigree charts and e-mail to you. I know this is long but----. gloria
