Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BNi.2ACIB/353.1.1 Message Board Post: I'm not an expert on the Botetourt Heck family, but can relay what I believe to be the relationship between William Henry Harshbarger & Lucinda Heck. Jacob Heck m. Barbara (Kilmer) Harshbarger, the widow of Henry Harshbarger. (Henry (not Jacob) & Barbara's marriage from Botetourt records.) Jacob Heck's father, David Daniel or Daniel David (have seen it both ways) Heck was married three times. 1st to Elizabeth McLean, 2nd to Susannna Zollman, 3rd to Susanna Guthrie. Jacob Heck's mother was Susanna Zollman. David Daniel Heck & his 3rd wife Susanna Guthrie had a dau. Lucinda b. in 1818. This Lucinda Heck is the one who is said to have married William Henry Harshbarger the s/o of Henry Harshbarger & Barbara Kilmer. So, William H. Harshbarger & Lucinda Heck were not related except by some sort of an in-law relation from the marriage of his mother, Barbara, to Lucinda's half brother, Jacob.

I could be wrong. Their son William H. Harshbarger, who was b. Apr 29, 1813, m. Lucinda Heck, who was b. 1818, in 1834, in High Bridge, Botetourt Co. VA. I do not have in my records the relationship between Jacob Heck, Barbara Kilmer's 2nd husband, and Lucinda Heck, who married Barbara's son. Was Lucinda a daughter of Jacob Heck by a previous marriage? Did William H. Harshbarger marry his step-sister? I would appreciate any info you may have on these families. I have heard of Arch O. Heck and his book, but have not seen a copy of it. I descend from Mary Jane Harshbarger, b. 1837, Botetourt Co. VA, m. James A. Van Dorin in 1856. Bill Love.
