Hi Guys, I've been looking for my husband's family and have a few new clues. I was wondering if anyone knows which of the three wives of Isaac is the mother of William Gilmore Heaton? The information that I have on my husband's Heatons please feel free to make additions, corrections, deletions, etc:-) Isaac is the father of William Gilmore Heaton. William Gilmore (b.September 18, 1812, VA; d. September 08, 1889 Wood County, WV) m. Elizabeth "Betsey" Finamore (b. January 10, 1806 MD; d. November 12, 1892, Wood County, WV) on January 11, 1831 in Wood County, WV. They had the following children +/- 1.) DeWitt Clinton Heaton (b. October 1831 Wood County, WV; d. February 23, 1905 Parkersburg, WV) m. Ruth Boggs (b. 1836 VA; d. October 14, 1891 Wood County, WV) on April 22, 1852 in Gallia County, Ohio 2.) Elizabeth Heaton Abt. 1833 3.) George Heaton Abt. 1838 4.) John Heaton Abt. 1841 5.) William Heaton Abt. 1843 6.) David Heaton Abt. 1845 7.) Edward Heaton Abt. 1846 8.) Daniel Heaton Abt. 1850 Also, on the 30th of Dec. 1866 a "William Heaton, of Parkersburg, married Miss Hattie Greenlee, at the home of the bride's father, in Gallipolis." Gallipolis Journal (newspaper). Could this William have been the 5th child of William G's??? That would be most interesting as we're still trying to figure out why Dewitt and Ruth, both being from Wood County would come to Gallia to be married, but this may show that the Heaton family frequented the town of Gallipolis, and perhaps had family here? Anyone know? Although Boggs was a well established family in Gallia County, several researchers have said there is no connection there, as the Boggs of Wood County were distant relatives of the Gallia County Boggs, and any Boggs that moved from Wood to Gallia would have been at a later date. So... now I have to look at the Heaton line:-) My husband is obviously a descendant of the 1st child of William G. (that's the guy we have all the info on:-)) DeWitt Clinton Heaton (b. October 1831 Wood County, WV; d. February 23, 1905 Parkersburg, WV) m. Ruth Boggs (b. 1836 VA; d. October 14, 1891 Wood County, WV) on April 22, 1852 in Gallia County, Ohio. They had the following children: 1.) William Tennyson Heaton (b. 1855 in Lubeck, Wood, WV; died October 20, 1909 Parkersburg, WV) m. Mary Ann Elletson (b. October 18, 1856; d. 1935) in 1879 in Wood County, WV. 2.) Annie Heaton 3.) Alva Heaton 4.) Charles DeWitt Heaton -- which I've also seen as Charles Dickens Heaton 5.) Etta Heaton 6.) Eva R. Heaton March 16, 1866 7.) John (Clay) Clayton Heaton 8.) Mary E. Heaton January 01, 1860 Any help in getting this Heaton line back would be greatly appreciated. What I would really like is the name of William G.'s mother. That would be a wonderful New Year's present:-) I did get some information from the Boggs list last night that I would be willing to share with anyone wanting to know more about Ruth Boggs who married Dewitt Clinton Heaton. Thanks all, Linda Tope Trent lindatrent@zoomnet.net
