    3. Hi to all, Thanks John, but I do have both of Dean Heatons books. At the present time daughter Julia Ann Krutilla has the 2 volume. You may have seen her on the internet. Neither book has been any help to us. I sent Dean info on the families here , plus photos. I'm wondering if the name EATON was being used by ggggrandfather. That is where we hit a brick wall. Marge

    3. hi everyone, The earliest Heaton I have is David Heaton who died around 1830 in RI. Most of the rest of the family (sons David and Lewis) stayed in RI, however one of his sons (Charles) spent a few years in Indiana before returning to RI. Is anyone following this branch? Lori

    3. Hi good to se some activity on this list. My Heatons were also English, but I haven't been able to get past my ggrandfather who was in Rutherford and Williamson counties born in 1831 and died in 1910. Also was listed as Eaton in several censuses. My Heaton was Samuel Joseph Heaton/Eaton. Married to Mary T. Adams. They had three sons Frank, Thomas and Samuel Jr. He also had a sister named Lucinda Elizabeth b. about 1833. who was married to David McDowell. Any one out there researching Tennessee Heatons/Eatons? Frank was my grandfather. Josie

    2. B'nard
    3. Old researcher new to the list (Old in more ways than one) I be son of Louise Heaton Lewis (1901), who is daughter of Franklin Eugene Heaton.(b. 1849). Frank's daddy is Uriah Heaton (b.1825) of the Union of John Heaton (and wife, Sarah Brown) from S.C. to Butler County, Al. during 1819. Alabama seems to have Heatons in every nook & cranny so if I can help any of you cousins, I am certainly willin'. B'nard in Greenville, Al. (for lack of space, I am collecting only Alabama Heatons.)

    1. Heatons in Berwick

    3. I am searching John Heaton who emigrated to Sweden in 1632. According to swedish sources he was called Hitthon/Hitton or Hytthon/Hytton but I think that could be a swedish spelling of Heaton. In the LDS database I have found that they treat Heaton and Eaton as the same name. Very confusing! For people in older times it seems necessary to try every possible spelling. This is what I know about him from the swedish sources (from his own son). He was born in Berwick, father Samuel being a merchant. His mothers name was Helen Svenborn (probably Swinburne) and his maternal grandmother was Helen Lindsay (later married to Thomas Muschamp, colonel in the swedish army). In the LDS database I have found a Samuel Eaton married to Elenor Swinburne 1617 in Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland. And a son John born there 1620. Anyone who knows about Heaton/Eaton/Hitthon/Hytthon family in Berwick or Border counties? Everything is interesting to me. Thanks Birgitta
