Posted on: HEADLEY Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/h/e/HEADLEY/queries?read=7 Surname: Headley ------------------------- Found this in the Headley Wills: Will of Joseph Headley 3 Jul 1756 Posted by Bill Collins on Thu, 10 Jun 1999 Surname: Headley, Belsfoard, Knowland, Pemberton, Ludlow, Bidgood, Linton Transcribed from office copy of Joseph Headly's Will In the Name of God Amen the Third Day of the Seventh Month called July in the of our Lord Christ one thousand seven Hundred and firty five of Joseph Headly of Middletown in the County of Bucks and State Province of Pennsylvania, yeoman, being of Perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given to God, therefor, Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for All men once to die Do make and Ordain this my Last will and Testament That is to Say Principally, and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian Like Decent manner at the Discretion of my Executors. Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Revive the Same again by the Mighty Power of God and as Tutching[?] Such Worldly Estate werewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life. I Give Devise and Dispose of the Same in the Following Manner and Form.-- Imprimis I give unto my Loving wife Hannah Headly That Room Wherein we Lodge with the Bed and furniture, Meate, Drink, wishing tha??? Firewood and Attendance and the Sum of three Pounds a year during her Widowhood. Item I give and Bequeath unto my son John Headly all that Tract of Land he Now Lives on Lying on the West Side of the Road. (Except an acre lying without John Belsfoard's Laire) He paying the Sum of Sixty Pounds Current Money of this Province Thirty Pound whereof to my Daughter Lydia and Thirty Pounds to my Daughter Christian.-- Item I give and Bequeath unto my son Soloman Headly all that Tract of land whereon I now Live Together with all my goods and Chattles he paying one Hundred and Twenty Pounds Current Money viz Ninety Pounds whereof to my son David Headly and that row he now lays? on and the Use of that House wherein he works as long as he remains unmarried. But in case he should marry and not to Continue there Ten Pounds whereof of the one Hundred and Twenty aforesaid to paid to my Daughter Hannah and the other Ten Pounds to my grand Daughter Elizabeth. Items I give to my son Joshua all that Tract of Land that John Knowland? Purchased of Phineas Pemberton together with the Improvements .-- Item I give and Bequeath unto my Son David Headly a three Corner Lot of Land lying on the Easterly side of the Road - Bounding on the land of my Son Joseph Containing Three or Four Acres or the Same more or less.-- Item. I give to my sons John and Solomon Headly Three years from My Decease To pay the Legacies Bequeath and given by me without Interest in any form Shape or Contrivance that may be Imposed upon them AND I do hereby Nominate Ordain Constitute and Appoint my Sons John and Solomon Headly Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly Disallow, Revoke and Disannul all and Every other former Testaments, Wills and Legacies Requests and Executors by me in any ways before this time.
