I have birth dates of 1802 or 1807 and birth places of PA or VA. Obviously, I don't know which is correct. I do know he married Rachel SCOTT. The only child I know of is John Barret HEADLEY born June 5, 1842 in VA/WVA. The 1860 Fulton Co, IL, Census finds them in Deerfield Twp. There is a younger Samuel HEADLEY living nearby. The 1870 Fulton Co, IL, Census shows Samuel HEADLEY with son John living next door and the younger Samuel HEADLEY living next door to John. I'm assuming the younger Samuel is related. I haven't had access to the 1880 IL Census. At some point John and his family moved to NE and he died there. Apparently the males in my HEADLEY line disliked their given names. John and Sarilda's children were Meridith (went by the name of Dan), Benton Eugene (went by the name of Jake), Andrew Jackson (went by the name of Jay), a son who died at age 3 went by the name of Dockey and I doubt that was his given name, William, Rachel Ann and Mary Elizabeth. Meridith (Dan) HEADLEY said that his father also went by the name of Dan. True or not, I don't know.

My 3-g grandfather was Samuel HEADLEY b 1802/1807 in PA/VA. This information comes from the Fulton Co, IL, census so I don't know if this is correct. I don't know who his parents were or when and where he died, though I presume he died in Fulton Co, IL. He mar Rachel SCOTT b 1802/1805 in PA. The only child I know of is my 2-g grandfather John Barret HEADLEY b 5 June 1842 in VA/WVA and died 25 April 1917 in NE. John Barret mar Sarilda S. MAHANNAH August 1862 in Canton, Fulton Co, IL. Apparently the males in my HEADLEY line disliked their given names and used nicknames. In the 1860 Census of Fulton Co, IL, there was another Samuel HEADLEY living nearby. In the 1870 Census of Fulton Co, IL, this Samuel HEADLEY is living next to John Barret HEADLEY who is living next to his father Samuel. I am assuming this second Samuel is related. Do any of these names appear in your line? Betty Jackan

Hello, My sister has found a Family Bible in her garage which she thought belonged to our grandparents. Unfortunately, I can not determine any connection. The names appear to be from Union, NJ, Sussex County, NJ. and Wayne County, PA according to www.familysearch.org The dates for Births go back to Thomas SPANGENBERG in 1775 thru Constance Walker in 1898.f Marriages start in 1798. Deaths start in 1811 and go thru Franklin Doughty Lanier WALKER in 1898. Other Surnames appearing in these records are: ROBERTS LEWIS HANFORD MINOR DURYEA KELLOGG LOCKWOOD HEADLEY HAM While the handwriting is very clear, no geographical town names are mentioned. I suspect these are NJ and PA families. If anyone is researching any of these names, please contact me (Bill Barber) directly via email as I will be Unsubscribing from these lists. Hi Jennifer, I saw your post of the Wyoming Co. Pa. Headley's and I am looking for any information on George Washington Headley. He was born in 1843 and he married Ellen S. Kocher of Lake Twp. Luzerne Co. Pa. I would appreciate any information you can add to this line. I do know they had a daughter Stella who married Azor L. Keagle and George may have been a minister.
