Lewllyn married Sarah J Spencer and they had at least 3 children. Two of their children (Lewis and Albert) died before reaching legal age. The third, Mary A. Headley was born abt. 1873, she married (first name unknown) Burton, btwn 1890-1893. She had a son, Albert Burton (later changed to Headley) b. 5 DEC 1893 in Indian Territory near Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma. Mary was (according to family members) shot to death about 1895-1896, along with her husband who was said to be Native American (Indian). Also according to family members, Mary was "snapping beans" on her front porch while her son played nearby. Therefore I estimate the month of her death to be mid to late summer. She married William W. Fields who was part Cherokee and they lived in OK in Indian Territory. Her father was Daniel Headley (as per her 1900 Cherokee Nation census record) and it listed her mother as Almedia Headley. I had been given information from a few cousins that this Almedia Headley was Susan Almedia Barnhouse. Recently, I went to looking for other census records for these Headley and Barnhouse families and came up with a few possibilities and even further confusion. For 1900 a friend finds my family as I had it listed for the Cherokee Census in 1900, however, this shows a Lottie Headley living with the family as a sister-in-law (to head of household William W. Fields) being born in MO, and being born in 1873. Lottie had a daughter, Elsie Headley, age 8 also with her, being born in IN. The birth place is right, and the date is about right as well. Then I find an LDS entry for this family (all Headley) children the same as in the 1880 census and it states that the Susan E. is actually Susan E. CASE. Susan is shown as dying in 1882. Daniel is shown as dying in 1904 in Blue Jacket, OK (the place that the census for 1900 shows Sarah Headley Fields and Lottie Fields living). My thoughts are that Daniel's first wife may have died and that he remarried to Susan Almedia Barnhouse. There was a LDS entry for Susan A. Barnhouse having father John Barnhouse and mother Sarah Ann McCormick, but Barnhouse researchers don't have her listed with these parents, but with other ones. Alberta was born Alberta Jean Headley in Smith Center, Kansas on January 9, 1915. She and Ray met while attending UNM and were longtime residents of Albuquerque. Alberta worked at Sandia National Lab for many years and upon their retirement, she and Ray enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world. Alberta is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Rajeane and J.T. Jack and Nan and Jay Hamner, both of Albuquerque; two grand-daughters and their husbands, Kristy and Rick Waldraff and Kara Lea and Steve Nixon, both of Abilene, Texas; one grandson and his wife, Jim and Kimberly Jack, of Arlington, Texas; seven great grandchildren; and an extended family of friends. He had a daughter named Dorothy. I believe she married a gentleman name John Dougher --- becoming Dorothy Dougher. John & Dorothy had several children (at least 4). I married a guy who is half brother to the son of John & Dorothy (given up for adoption in 1957). He is hospitalized and in very bad shape. He needs to contact his family to give him hope to recover.
