    1. [HCGS] MEETING
    2. RECasto
    3. The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their regular monthly meeting this morning at the Waldomore, Clarksburg, WV. There were only 12 in attendance and that was good for as hot as it was. It was good to have our good friend Betty Williams from Lakeland, FL with us today and she will still be here for the September meeting. Darrell gave a report on the new micro film reader which has been ordered and was to have been shipped the 29th of July and we should have it in a week to ten days. Diane Dieterle the lady writing the Duvall book refunded our $90.00 which we had sent her for the two volumes of her new book. She has so much material that it now will have to be in three volumes. We voted to buy all three volumes of the Duvall book. Diana Johnson noted that we are missing on volume of the Braxton County, WV obits and we will be ordering it. It is for the years 1911-1920. Diana also made mention that the Nutter reunion will be held at the City Park (Norwood Park) Nutter Fort on the 17th of August. Tim Eastom has two more volumes of the Nutter book in addition to the one he has already published. Jerry Hawkinberry gave us the webpage for Randolph County, WV which is www.rootsweb.com/~ilrcgs THE ANNUAL PICNIC WILL BE AUGUST 13TH at 5:00 P.M. at Lake Floyd, Rt 50 West of Clarksburg, WV. If you plan to attend please bring a covered dish. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be furnished by the Society. The German Festival at Sistersville in October was discussed and we had thought there would be someone going to set up a table with our publications but no one volunteered. Patricia Dennison wanted us to name a planning committee for the workshop which we are planning in May, 2003. We need a lot of input and if you would be willing to help please be at the Waldomore, Clarksburg, WV on Saturday the 28th of September at 10:00 A.M. for a meeting so a report can be made at the October meeting. Diana Johnson, Elaine Post and Jerry Hawkinberry will be at the meeting. We need more volunteers and ideas so please try to give Patricia your support in making this a great workshop. We also had a discussion on the Annual Christmas Dinner. Several places were named and of course we left it up to Darrell to see what he can do.. It was suggested we rent someplace and have it catered. Any ideas where you would like to go for the Christmas Dinner please let us know. The next meeting will be September 6, 2003. On my way home I have to pass the City Park (Norwood Park) to a lot of the older ones from this area , and it was jumping with activity at 11:30 A.M. August 1, 2 & 3 is the Annual Blackberry Festival and it is becoming quite an event. Jim Reid's always has a booth and do they ever make good blackberry pie and cobbler. That's all folks.
