To John M. Hines, Sr. and anyone else who interpreted my message the same way Mr. Hines did --- Please go back and read what I wrote! I am saying the same thing you are....just using different words. The Web is filled with crap, porn, junk and....well, you name it whatever you want. This "fight" (I would prefer to call it a viable and lively discussion!) began because a couple of listers complained of the nature of a few messages. Those complaints were their opinions, and of course they were -- and are -- entitled to them. However, having an opinion does NOT MAKE THEM CORRECT! There have been implied statements that there are actual rules that govern this list. To my knowledge, those "rules" would have to begin and end with the First Amendment to our Constitution. If there are by-laws or some other kind of rule, I for one have never seen them, and I doubt that 99% of the rest of the list has seen them either. When and how would we have ever had the chance to see them? Personally, I thoroughly enjoy every one of the "poems" or homilies or whatever....even if they are not specifically aimed at Harrison County Genealogy. So what? Who does it ever hurt? For some of us it helps to create a smile...... or even to MAKE OUR DAY! I enjoy reading submissions that make me feel good about family....or about the art & science of studying family.....or about our GREAT country that allows us to do that -- and to have this list at all! If people have problems with that, I don't agree and I don't understand....but I know some fellows personally who died to defend their right to express those problems -- so I say: Have at it! Complain if you want....but then if you don't get your way -- shut up or get off the list! I guarantee that if the Harrison County Genealogy Society chooses to keep a TOTALLY focused.....nothing but HCGS genealogy messages oriented list, I will shut up myself. I will then pay me dues and download the "list" messages whenever I can. God Bless America and all those who want to keep her FREE! Lee Roland Jenkins Member HCGS in Good Standing
