    1. [HCGS] MEETING
    2. RECasto
    3. Hi Folks, We had a good attendance at our meeting this morning and it was good to have Jim Cottrill and his grandson from Pittsburgh, Pa. attend the meeting with us. Of course Jim had his camera so we should be seeing some new pictures. Professor Robert Anderson talked to us about a "New Deal Era" workshop that is going to be held in Fairmont, WV on May 13-15, 2003. This is in conjunction with the West Virginia CCC Museum Association and the Arthurdale, WV Heritage Foundation. Cost for the entire conference is $100.00. May 13th only $25.00, May 14th only $65.00 or May 15th only $35.00. For further information you can contact, Dr. Robert Anderson, 31 Maple Lake, Bridgeport, WV 26330 or phone him at 304-842-5194. Darrell Waugh, president, stated that he did bring in the brochure on the "Community of Guardian of Webster County, WV" and the book has been ordered. We will also be placing our HCGS in the Visitors Guide of Harrison County. Darrell also announced a workshop to be held at the Virginia Genealogical Society, Richmond, VA, July 6-10, 2003. I believe he said the cost was around $300.00. Patricia Dennison gave a report on the May 17th workshop and the computer classes will be held at the Waldomore. There will be someone at the Courthouse working with David Houchin, our librarian, to make copies for those needing something copied. This will be a regular worker from the Courthouse staff. Registrations are coming in already so be sure if you plan on attending to get yours back to us as soon as possible. How about the newsletters? Have you received yours yet? I haven't read my e-mail yet today. We also voted to open up myfamily.hcgs to people other than members so maybe there will be more traffic on it. 3. Hi Ruby, I haven't received my newsletter here in Tucson yet. Am leaving tomorrow for San Carlos Mexico for a week so won't be able to update you if it comes tomorrow. A friend has a vacation home in San Carlos, right on the Bay so 8 of us are going down to spent a week just playing bridge, reading and relaxing. I am ready for it! Our YMCA Ladies group had a bake sale today that I was chairman (and chief baker) to raise money for summer camp scholarships. We made a little over $400 in about 4 hours. I had been baking all week (12 loaves of bread on Tuesday alone) so am ready for a little R & .R BTW- I have never been able to access My Family HCGS. I have joined, gotten a password and the whole bit but whenever I try to access a file, I get a message saying I am not qualified to view it. Perhaps others have the same trouble and that is why there is so little participation. I remember Ethel Neilson has trouble with it too.
