I think Sharon has a wonderful idea. The money saved in postage and paper could be used to help pay for website. All it would take for those who say ok for online delivery is drop them from printed copy, and then an email notice that the current newsletter is on member's page. Has anyone ever discussed publishing the HCGS newsletter online? I know I wouldn't mind receiving mine that way. I realize there are some who are not online - but the savings in printing & mailing might be worthwhile. We could put a significant amount of money to other uses. HCGS members could access the newsletters in a "members only" archives at our website. Members could then copy and paste items of interest to our own computer files. For example, sometimes HCGS publishes marriage records sections-at-a-time. If these were published online, we could paste 'em as we get 'em in one convenient file. Just a thought.... <Sharon>< ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
Actually this will work. I put out the "hard copies" of a newsletter for a group I belong to. Those that have internet access can view the newsletter on the website. The newsletter editor sends an email with the web address of where to locate the newsletter. Since I get a .pdf copy in my inbox to photocopy for others I never look at it online but... If anybody needs more information on how our newsletter editor does this, let me know and I will email her. As matter of fact she currently lives in WV, and I'm living in Southern MD. Oh, all of our "hard" copies go out by first class mail because it's only about 35 copies. Christine Emond ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara W.
