As most of you already know my other hobby is Amateur Radio. I have built a portable Ham Radio Repeater to use in cases of an emergency and I operate it using a piece of software called "Echostation" which will only run from a serial port. I have tried to adapt my laptops from USB to Serial port and have had no success. I have purchased two Kits and neither work. I am in need of an old laptop computer to use in the system but all the laptops I have found are either windows 7 or Vista and are not compatible with my software. Here is the question::::: Is there anyone out there that has an old laptop they would like to donate to me to make the system portable. I am using a desktop at the moment but desktops just are not very portable. If you would have an old laptop laying around and you would like to donate it, I would be more than happy to pay the shipping to my location.
