    1. [HCGS] MEETING
    2. Ruby Casto
    3. The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their regular monthly meeting this date with 5 persons in attendance. I'm sure the weather kept several away from attending the meeting. It was raining and turned much colder. Diana wasn't there as she had to go to the airport and pick up her brother. The trip to Washington, DC had to be canceled once again as there was not enough interest in it. David said he had about 15 that showed an interest in going. He said it might be better if they would try a trip in the Spring so everyone could get rid of their cabin fever. David had a couple of new books and a CD. One book was on preserving genealogy materials and the CD was on the Loyalist in the American Revolution. He also had a book donated by Dennis Rogers, and it gives a detailed account of where to search for records. We also discussed the first marriage bond book at the courthouse. We would like to have a copy of it as there is a lot of genealogy material and family names giving their consent. David is going to talk to the clerk to see what would be the best way to go get a copy We have obituaries from 1996 to the present and Antero (not sure of the spelling) would like to make copies of all of them. This is a gas & oil company who is looking for heirs and they feel like these obits would be of a big benefit to them. David is suppose to get in touch with them and negotiate with them the best way for them to do the copying. The roof on the Waldomore is going to be replaced and it will start the first part of November if the weather is favorable. The Waldomore will probably be closed while the roofing takes place. The next meeting will be held on the 3rd of November and we will either meet in the Waldomore or the conference room at the main library. The September newsletters needs folded and sealed, but we didn't get to it today. Ted Wolfe is going to get in contact with the Parkette Restaurant to see if they have a Saturday opened in December for our annual Christmas Dinner. He was looking at the 15th of December at 2:00 P.M. He will let us know what he finds out. Does any of you have sit down Christmas games that we can play or any ideas. Diana has been doing them, so I'm sure she still has the websites she gets them from also. It is always good to have some new ideas. Don't forget it is getting time for dues to be paid. Our dues run from January 1st through December 31st each year. Ruby Casto Membership Chairman of HCGS
