Dave Yes, Yahoo groups do have archives but it is only public to signed in members--- I yahoo groups is the media used for lot of herding dog sites. but there is always a problem of me bringing up my local club using it's acronym for a groups title and I have never been able to bring up a separate list started for the same club Board- which may not necessarily be legal especially when only certain board members are on it and others aren't and some folks who are not on the board of officers are in the list.. A more pertinent discussion might be about webcrawlers and how and when things have evolved with websites archives- they pull ACTIVE INFORMATION ON A ROUTINE BASIS TO ANOTHeR Archive WEBSITE WHICH THEN STaYS ONLINe AFTeR THe ORIGiNAL WEBSITE GOES elecrtonically defunct-- so there is also Peter Pan Land and who knows what lies beyond that.... Also an unwritten philosophy of LDS fiels has been once it goes into back and white someone will find it somewhere some placae so It cannot be corrected and it will show up aGAIN IN THE FUTURE.... however the new programs not yet available to the public, allows for corrections..... and or alternate family structure to be identified linked to other genealogies- still is loophole if there isn't enough indentifying info on the progenitor and their descendents for the file it may look like separate families.. Anybody can read it - forever and ever. I didn't realize that until I googled my own name a couple years ago! What a surprise!!! Is there any reason why we just can't be part of a regular email "LIST" in which we can simply "REPLY TO ALL" to communicate? Why use Rootsweb if we don't have to? Our conversations would be private. Well, except for NSA snooping and scooping :):) (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) >> >> If we did decide to go the private route - we would each need to have a HCGS LIST in our "Contacts" in order to initiate a conversation.
