As I understand it, Ruby is the authorized gatekeeper and can approve new member access to the list or take away access for members who have not paid their dues. She may have limited capability to authorize attachments or bigger messages to go through. But she can't go into the archives to delete junk, bad e-mail addresses, etc. The only thing I can do is subscribe and unsubscribe. If a message is too big or a person that is not a member and sends a message to the list which is about every day someone wants to sell us something, I can tell rootsweb to ban them from joining and to delete the message. If a person has too many bounces rootsweb will unsub them. I have no idea why we started using rootsweb and Sue Moore had the members only list before I started monitoring it but she was working full time and couldn't attend meetings so she turned it over to me.
