The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their regular monthly meeting this date with nine persons in attendance. Diana Johnson reported on the pedigree charts and said that Ethel has them all up to date. You still have time to send yours in if you have not done so. She wants them all in by the 31st of December. We would like to have it for publication by April 2011. David Houchin reported on books and said we now have four of the five books on the Draper Manuscripts. He had a book donated on the Flowers family and another book by Mr. Boggess on the cemetery at Maken. He also had the new book published by Joy Gilchrist Stalnaker Defazio and Bradley Oldaker, "Images of America, Lewis County". Also CD's on "Family Archives, The Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy 1750-1930", and British Emigrants in Bondage 1614-1788. The Family History Day will be held in Charleston, WV on the 24th of February, 2011, and if we are to name a History Hero it will have to be by the 31st of December. We have another meeting before we decide if we will name anyone or not. David had some old pictures that were given to him without people being identified. I scanned four of those pictures to Dick Wilt and asked him to put them on the webpage. I'm sure Dick will let us know when he gets them on there. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the annual Christmas dinner which will be on the 11th of December at 1:00 P.M. at the Parkette Restaurant. Please let me know if you plan on attending as they would like some idea of how many will be attending. Send the e-mail to me and not the list [email protected] Feel free to bring guests and of course it will be same as in the past, everyone is responsible for their own dinner, but the society will pick up the gratuity. There will also be a gift exchange and if you want to participate in it just bring some small gift that can be used by either a male or female. I have asked Diana to be in charge of the games once again and last year we played several games of bingo. Diana is working on the December newsletter and hopefully she will have it by the next meeting so that we can help her put it together like we did the September one. Jack Sandy Anderson has given the society permission to use any of his stories that he has written and I'm sure you will be seeing some of them in future newsletters.
