    1. [HCGS] MEETING
    2. Ruby Casto
    3. The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their regular monthly meeting this date at the Waldomore in Clarksburg, WV. There were 9 persons in attendance even though it was very cold. It was 20° at 6:00 A.M. this morning. David Houchin, librarian, said he had ordered a book "The Hidden Half of the Family" which is a source book for women's genealogy. He does not have it yet but it will be a book on tracing our female ancestors. Diana Johnson has the newsletter ready to go to the printers. Diana also had several more pedigree charts and if you haven't gotten yours in yet, please do so at once as the cut off date is December 31st. She wants to have them ready for publication the first of April, 2011. Thanks to Ethel Swiger who has been indexing them all. Dick Wilt, webmaster, says he still only has two Christmas stories. He would like to have several and wants to put them all on our webpage the 15th of December. I was surprised that he did not have more than that. When I was a kid Christmas was a most exciting time for me and I can recall things my mother told me about her Christmases in the early 1900's and also my mother-in-law telling me about hers. I'm sure we all have a Christmas story that needs to be told. The Christmas dinner will be next Saturday, December 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the Parkette Restaurant on the old Bridgeport Hill. If you want to join in the gift exchange just bring some small gift that can be used by either male or female. Hopefully Diana will have some games for us to play. We have nominated David Houchin, librarian, to be our History Hero for History Day which will be held in February or March, 2011. He has helped numerous persons with their research. It is always held in Charleston, WV. We also voted to donate $30.00 to the Humanities in West Virginia Council. They are the ones that published the West Virginia Encyclopedia, by Ken Sullivan. Thanks to Ethel Nielsen we all had a piece of Dick Wilt's "peach upside down" birthday cake. Happy Birthday to Dick tomorrow, December 5th. There were several renewals of dues and I will get your cards mailed to you asap, since right now I am working on my Christmas cards and I would like to get them completed first.
