The new Family Finder DNA Test results in names and emails of others with matching DNA. These would be your cousins from any of your ancestors (much more than just your all-male or all-female lines). So far I've gotten matches with other folks who descend from my ancestors: BURRELL, BUSH, CAMPBELL, CLARK, FIELDING, FISHER, HAM/M, HAWKINS, RUCKER, STEPHENS, STRATTON, and WILLIS. Because this DNA passes from these Ancestral lines down to the match and to me, it also validates my paper trail between the common ancestor and me, which includes parts of the following lines: BAKER, BARTLETT, BUTCHER, GLAZE, MITCHELL, and PLUNKETT. Many of these families were in Harrison, Lewis and other northern WV counties - which is where most of my ancestral roots are. HCPD is like an extended family, with many having deep roots in the counties included in HCPD area. If there is interest, I would like to form an HCPD Family Finder Group at Family Tree DNA. With such a group, anyone with HCPD roots could sign up for Family Finder (or other DNA) testing. Or if you've already been tested as part of a SURNAME group, FTDNA allows you to also join another Group (such as an HCPD Group). The benefit of such a group, is having the Group Administrator (me and 1 or 2 coAdmins from HCPD) be able to help everyone in the Group and to, perhaps, develop a web page as we track the DNA matches, and confirm various lines from the original settlers.
