Ruby how many members do we have without computers? Ruby, Another group I am in struggled with this same issue. It was finally resolved when we realized that the cost to snail mail to those who did not have computers was less than the cost of the bulk mailing. Is there any possibility that that could be true for HCGS? Diana just connecting me and I am not sure about Staples. Yes, I do have two email accounts. A good while back I was having problems with Frontier and I was planning on leaving them. I opened a Hotmail account. I am slowing transfering everything over to that account. Danny, Someone also mentioned Staples at the meeting yesterday. Ted or Diana may check with them. Of course we would need it printed, collated, stapled & closed with a tab/tabs, folded, sorted by zip codes and mailed. I think Ted was going to check to see if anyone did that kind of work in Morgantown. Do you have two e-mail addresses? Rootsweb wouldn't take the hotmail one but I told them to accept it. I think the Frontier one is on the HCGS membership list. Thanks, Ruby

Ruby, have you checked out Staples? I don't know if they do it by email to prepare mailing, but I know that you can take a hardcopy in they will prepare it that way. It is worth a try to find out. Sharon, They are talking about the newsletter being e-mailed or put on the webpage. The pedigree charts will be in a book and we are going to sell them. At one of our meetings and it was also discussed yesterday not everyone has a computer so they need a hard copy and to make a bulk mailing there needs to be 200 copies of whatever is being mailed. The ones that were involved with the early newsletters understands how much work it was to get it ready to be mailed. That was when we had maybe a dozen people up at the Waldomore getting the newsletter ready to be mailed and then we could just take it to the post office almost next door. We get our three different organizations newsletters emailed to us to our home computers and it sure saves the organization time, money, paper, mailing costs and trouble for all those making the copies, getting them ready to be mailed and taking them to the Post Office. For those few who don't have email, the copies are still mailed to them. The discussion today was for Diana to e-mail the copy of the newsletter to Presort in Fairmont and they will do all of the work on them. It will probably be a little more expensive but since we don't have the membership to get them ready to be mailed it will take a big load off Diana. She has a full time job. Does anyone know of any other place that does this kind of work? It wouldn't matter where the company would be located as long as it was a reliable one. Don't forget our annual Christmas party which will be on the 15th of December at 2:00 P.M. at the Parkette Restaurant. There will be a gift exchange. The price of the gift should be in the neighborhood of $5.00 or whatever you wish to spend. It needs to be something suitable for either male or female. We have about 20 persons so far that will be attending. If you think you are going please let me know. Recasto47@frontier.com Diana is in charge of it and she is keeping what she is going to do a secret. Since Dick was there this morning he had his camera so I would assume he will put a picture on the webpage. Ruby Casto Membership Chairman of HCGS Oh, yes it is dues time once again. Dues are $10.00 mailed to Harrison County Genealogical Society, P O Box 387, Clarksburg, WV 26301.

It was good to see our webmaster Dick Wilt after several months absence. He is busy like the most of us. David did not have any reports from the book committee. David took the September newsletters to be mailed and had a problem with the post office and he or someone will have to go out to the bulk mailing post office to get the trays to mail them in. David did get in touch with Antero and tell them we accepted their offer to copy the obits and they will give us a copy of the index they make. They also will be paying us for copying the obits. We had a discussion on the newsletters. When we first started the newsletters we did all of the work on them ourselves. Many of us stood at the copy machine and made the copies, then we would go around the table putting them in order. That really was a lot of work. So we decided to make things easier and let MCM print them and collate.
