Here is the latest update on Patricia and it looks like she will have a full recovery. Her daughter Sharon wants to thank everyone for their prayers. Ruby Mom is still at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, health wise she is getting healthier and no longer needing blood pressure medication or insulin for blood sugar so I'm thrilled about that. Today she was much more alert and seemed to be thinking but not really sure what it was she was thinking about. I drove her truck down to visit her and took her out to the parking lot to see if she would recognize it like she had the day before with my car and as I suspected she did. She seemed pretty happy to have seen her truck. I had to compete with the tv in the room today but managed to still get in a few memory exercises with her, she recognized simple objects and was able to add and subtract simple math. As time goes on she'll advance to more complex problem solving. She remembers things but they are still jumbled up and she's not sure about it, she had a new nurse today and she thought he was someone son she knew, it took some convincing that none of us knew him but she finally understood he was just the nurse. I can see each day she recognizes things a little better. My brother took a electronic photo frame with lots of photos she recognized most of them and told me the names of the people in the photos and her dog Kadee, she wasn't sure about Thorn who is the newest member of our family so it will take a little more time to remember him. The team of doctors and therapists will meet on Tuesday and evaluate her progress since last Thursday and be able to come up with a team approach for her therapy and a tentative discharge date. I feel pretty certain she will recover a good part of her memory but may not recover all of it before coming home, I think once she is at home among her personal items and familiar surroundings she will recover the rest of it. One of the main focuses will be to get her strength up and get her to understand about her day to day activities of taking care of herself. I'm looking forward to her recovery and getting on with life.
Ruby Thank you for posting this - it helps me to review what i have been going thru without knowing all that I should have been told! I have added a new page on the Family Bible page. The Miller/Jackson Bible belonging to Lewis and Rachael Jackson Miller pioneers to Oregon/Washington in 1851 Dick Web Master http://www.wvhcgs.com
For those searching the Queen Family I have the one of the Queen Family Books and would be glad to share any information you might want that is in it. Also can make copies of lineages if you wish. EVA NEWLON
Anna, First there are several pages on Rootsweb.ancestry.com that include research done by others on the Queen Family, some of them cite the Queen Family History. Second here is a site http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/u/b/a/Bob-Ubaudi/GENE56-0001.html that has a lot of the Queen Family. Third, I have a lot of data on the Queen family as I am a Queen descendant - let me known what your are looking for and I may be able to help. I have all three versions of the Queen Family History. I hope this is not too short of notice, but taking into account the forecast temperature and threat of additional snow tomorrow I am cancelling tomorrow's meeting. I have already heard from a number of our regular attendees who don't plan on braving the elements. Ted Wolfe President, HCGS

This is the reminder of the HCGS regular meeting tomorrow, Saturday, February 2nd. It will be at 10:00 A.M. on the second floor of the Waldomore. It is handicapped accessible. If the weather is what is being predicted I will not be there. It is suppose to be 14° and snowy. In fact it is suppose to be snowy all weekend. I had some correspondence with Diana this week and she also said, she could not be there. This message is coming to you from cold and snowy West Virginia. Ruby

We are interested in all of our members that are having health problems and so glad that Patricia's daughter keeps us updated. Ruby Mom finally slept an entire night; in fact she was still asleep at 6am this morning. Yesterday Physical Therapy came by and took her for a walk. They said she is strong and should have no problem getting around on her own when she is stronger. She is still confused and now she knows she is confused. Some of the things she talks about make no sense but the mind is a very different body part and has to have time to heal so it can get itself back in order where it belongs. There really isn't a time limit for when her mind will recover and begin to operate like normal and memory return to where it belongs. Notre Dame class of 1958 has one too, with links to other Clarksburg sites. I don't have that address handy, but I'm sure you could google it. The WI newsletter was started about 13 years ago by Roleta Smith Meredith of the class of 59. ROLETA1@aol.com(I have a newsletter for the class of 62. I won’t say that there is competition because hers beats mine hands down.) Notice that the newsletter is ready to read is distributed by e-mail for free. I send notification directly to four class years and maintain the address list for all years for the dozen or so volunteer distributors. (Competition? If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!) You can see the most recent and all back issues as follows: Go to: http://wihs59.tripod.com/news/ Some times that website raises flags as a source of spam, etc. If you have difficulty getting access, there is a backdoor approach. The newsletter has grown to cover many schools in the area with about 2,000 regularly receiving notification that it is ready to read. So, if you have an interest in Clarksburg, the surrounding area and its people you may want to read the newsletter or get on the free notification list that the newsletter is ready to be read. The February 1, 2013 issue is to include an article about the Farm Line Maps on the HCGS website. One of my purposes in writing that article was to get people to visit the HCGS website and possibly to get readers interested in joining the HCGS. Many live in the HCGS home area or are from the area and have great pride in their families and their family history in the area but have not chosen to join the HCGS. Maybe they just don’t know about us. There is also a Clarksburg friends Facebook page. Many newsletter readers are members of that Facebook page. An encouragement to join HCGS could be posted there. The WI newsletter has resulted in an annual quilt raffle fundraiser which provides some college scholarships for graduates of Byrd High School. It has also resulted in annual picnics in Clarksburg in August and Sarasota in March. Another group meets about monthly in the Washington, D. C. area. There are also of course many class reunions every year which are aided by communications in the newsletter. Similar efforts for Victory High School and RW High School have spun off. None of us are getting any younger. We all need to work at finding new members or the HCGS will shrink and fade away as our members naturally die off. It is sad to consider that but it is reality. Is anyone else having problems with Family Search? The last two times I have gone to use it, it will say they are having technical problems to try again in a few minutes. I try again and get the same answer. Thanks, Ruby
I had trouble the past few days and was able to bring it up by clicking on the Family Search at the top of the page. The page refreshes then I enter the name I am searching for and it brings it up. I first noted it a couple of days again and hadn't had that problem before that. I've used it hundreds of times so this is different.
