The Harrison County Genealogical Society Web Site has been updated for April 1, 2013 and I hope you all have a great April Fools Day. Dick Web Master http://www.wvhcgs.com http://www.rwilt.com http://www.sjara.org
On the front page of the local newspaper this morning there is a picture of the Waldomore with the scaffolding going up for the roof replacement. The contractor wants to start on it Monday morning if the weather is favorable. It also states that once the roof has been replaced the wiring will be next. We want to thank those in charge of seeing that these two jobs are done. I also would like to wish all of you a Blessed Easter. Now that I have had both of my cataracts removed, hopefully I will be able to do more on the membership list in about five weeks when I can get new glasses. Ruby Membership Chairman of HCGS

Thanks Sharon, I watched the first webinar today and was very interesting. I have been tested by Myfamily DNA several years ago and I will probably watch the remaining webinars. Learn a few things I didn't know much about before. Hope I can learn more. Again, Thanks for the direction. "A great webinar is available to watch for free through March. The webinar, available at http://www.relativeroots.net/webinars/intro-ftdna/ was held earlier this week, and the recorded session can be viewed simply by registering for the webinar on this page. I watched the webinar last night and it is about 2 hours long. It will be especially helpful to those you are new to DNA genealogy. It was helpful to me as I learned about several new tests and advances in DNA genealogy, such as Family Finder, that are of interest to me and were not available when I first subscribed. Thank you, Pam, for posting this information about Betty Jane Fretwell Seigfriied. I went to school at Washington Irving High School with her and have wondered about her for years. Betty resided there for 18 years then moved to join her mother, a WAC, at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., where she met and married her first husband, Walter Sluder. They moved to his home in New York City after his discharge from the army. The marriage lasted 15 years. Betty married Ernest C. Siegfried, M.D., in 1960 on Staten Island, N.Y. Ernie was a physician in the U.S. Public Health Service and subject to being transferred. Then the journey began. Ernie, his two boys, Bryan and Karl, and Betty moved to Seattle, Wash., for two years, then to Phoenix, Ariz., for three years, then to Washington, D.C., where Ernie was attached to the Department of Justice. They lived in Bethesda, Md., for three years. They were then transferred back to Phoenix where Ernie retired. After Phoenix came Tucson for two years and finally they settled in Chino Valley, Ariz. She was also active in the Prescott Creeks Association, The Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs and the Sculpture Garden at Yavapai College.
