    3. Ruby   See below. I interpret the message sent to you to apply to the original message sent on "Friday June 7" which had the attachment stripped but went through without those attachments.    My response to Larry just went through and came to me via the list serve.  It included the guts of the original message without the attachments.   I declare that we have now beaten this subject to death and that no further messages need to be sent on it.    If anyone thinks they missed something, contact me directly.  Dave Kuhl 210 Glen Eagles Drive Ocean Springs, MS 39564-9041 e-mail: dbkuhl@bellsouth.net ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: Ruby Casto <recasto47@frontier.com> To: Dave Kuhl <dbkuhl@bellsouth.net> Sent: Sun, June 9, 2013 11:56:34 AM Subject: HCGS MEMBERS ONLY LIST Subject: Fw: Davisson   Size: 4996039 bytes   Reason: Message body is too big: 4991138 bytes with a limit of 40 KB   Received: Fri Jun 7 15:06:08 2013     David,    The message above is from rootsweb and your message is still too big.  Why don’t you just send a webpage so that people can just click on it and see the content of your message.   Ruby

    3. Thanks Larry.  That is correct.  I hope that no one misinterpreted the message to imply that Ruby was deciding that attachments could not go through.  Ruby was just passing on the message that my message did not go through because it was over 40 KB.  The message may have actually gone through after the attachments were stripped.   If any one wants to see the attachments which were photos of grave markers, they can e-mail me and request them.  If the pictures are not now on Find A Grave, they will eventually be on Find A Grave.  Dave Kuhl 210 Glen Eagles Drive Ocean Springs, MS 39564-9041 e-mail: dbkuhl@bellsouth.net ________________________________ From: Larry Francis <lfrancis@infionline.net> To: hcgs@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, June 8, 2013 11:43:21 PM Subject: Re: [HCGS] Fw: Davisson Rootsweb list serve does not allow attachments. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Kuhl" <dbkuhl@bellsouth.net> To: "hcgs" <hcgs@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 08, 2013 10:47 AM Subject: [HCGS] Fw: Davisson > Ruby manages the members only site and said she got message that this did > not go > through because of the size. 1. Re: [HCGS] Inquiry for: Brundige, Davisson, Sealey and Waugh
    2. Jim Bartlett
    3. Eric You should consider DNA to determine which DAVISSON line is yours. You'd need DNA from a male DAVISSON you know was from your line, and DNA from DAVISSON males descended from the two different lines - see which one your proxy matches. The DNA of these DAVISSON lines (or any other surname you may be interested in) may have already been tested. Go to www.familytreedna.com and use the search box upper right. I've looked up many of my surnames and determined their DNA signature that way. Each surname project is run by a volunteer (like me for BARTLETT and UNDERWOOD) so the quality of the projects varies, but you can determine your line at most of them. If you want to use DNA to find cousins (and verify many of your ancestral lines), I heartily recommend autosomal DNA (atDNA) testing. They look at many places across all of your DNA and compare with other results in the database and the result is a list of matches who are highly probably your cousins - then (the DNA having done it's job), you can't act them and share Tree info to determine your Common Ancestors. Three main companies now offer this atDNA test: familytreedna (link above), www.23andMe.com, and www.ancestry.com and with this competition the price has dropped substantially (double digits in some cases) DNA is a tool. It is a very accurate and powerful tool. It has your ancestry preserved in it. But only you can put a face on it. The genealogists use their skills to find the names and dates and places (after the DNA tells you who you match) of the Common Ancestor between two folks who match. It's fun! Good luck, Jim - Sent from my iPhone - FaceTime! William remarried in Oct 1852 to Elizabeth A Brown. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=258099&Type=Marriage (William J Waugh and Sarah Davisson/Davison) http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=10708676&Type=Marriage (William J Waugh and Elizabeth A Brown) http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=2916859&Type=Death (Elizabeth A Brown Waugh death record) Another Davisson line that I have some cemetery photographs of are buried at Pleasant Grove (or Cherry Camp) Cemetery, which is the one near my mother-in-law's house. This was a spur of the moment stop. It was getting too dark to finish the whole thing. If any of the following Davissons are of interest to him or anyone else, I will make a point to stop by this weekend and look for other Davissons that are supposed to be buried there.  Marcellus V Davisson was the son on Josiah Davisson and Sarah Smith. The attached headstone photos are of Marcellus, his wife (Mary Ellen Smith) and his mother (Sarah Smith Davisson). Josiah Davisson is buried there, but I either missed his headstone or it is unreadable. I will look for unreadable ones near Sarah's if I can't find a readable one. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=1918654&Type=Death (Marcellus V Davisson death certificate) http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=109098&Type=Death (Sarah Smith Davisson death record) http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=37908&Type=Marriage (Josiah Davisson and Sarah Smith marriage rec) http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=113334&Type=Death (Josiah Davisson death record says he is buried at Cherry Camp. I usually have 2 to 3 hours to burn each time. If anyone knows of a cemetery within a 20 mile radius that they have interest in, have them contact me. This will keep me out of trouble as there really isn't a whole lot to do up there except shop.

She was a daughter of Alexander Austin Waugh and Nellie Sealey.   After talking with David yesterday I learned from him that there were two lines of Davissons back in the late 1700’s.  One from Duck Creek and one from Lost Creek.  Which one would you say is my line, the Jonathon Davisson line?    I believe also that Sarah died in child birth of Alexander.  I have a question though.  In the 1860 census, there is another child born in 1852.  Her name was Savannah!  I wondering if there is any information or research that proves this?  Also I was wondering if you have a death record on William J Waugh?  I have some information that I acquired somewhere…rumor is that he died in 1884 in Lewis County.  Wonder if there is a gravestone anywhere.   I would love to join!  Where do I send the check?   Thank you again for your response,   Eric   From:Dave Kuhl [mailto:dbkuhl@bellsouth.net] Sent: Friday, June 07, 2013 1:33 PM To: eric.letson@gmail.com Cc: Ted Wolfe Subject: Davisson   Hello Mr. Letson   Here is some research on your inquiry from a cousin of mine.    I hope you will consider joining HCGS.  It is only $10 a year.   You can't hardly buy a cup of coffee and a hamburger for that small amount any more.    I think you will find that we are a really friendly and helpful group.   Most genealogists will knock each other down trying to help someone else.  It is something in the blood which makes us all a little crazy.   Dave Kuhl 210 Glen Eagles Drive Ocean Springs, MS 39564-9041 e-mail: dbkuhl@bellsouth.net     ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: "jnnfbl91@frontier.com" <jnnfbl91@frontier.com> To: David Kuhl <dbkuhl@bellsouth.net> Sent: Fri, June 7, 2013 12:21:01 AM Subject: Davisson The Sarah Davisson/Davison that Mr. Letson is referring to is most likely the daughter of Johnathon Davisson and Lorena Florence Holland. I was wondering if there is any source material in the files on my great grandfather’s birth and his parents. Just looking to be pointed in the right direction. I believe the Davisson’s were a focal family of the mid to late 1800’s. Is my Sarah part of those Davissons? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! If dues haven't been paid for the current year I remove members from our members only list on rootsweb in March of each year. It is now June so if you are on the list and your dues have not been paid, I will be taking you off the list. Each time I do this I get e-mails from members saying they didn't want to unsubscribe from the list, and they don't realize that their dues have not been paid. Ruby
