Reading something about the history of the Civil War and the history of the Irish in this country, it seems they got the Irish to enlist right off the boats by promising them money. 2. Charlotte Fleming
    3. Hello all, For 10 years I have been searching, (with NO leads at all) for the parents of my ggg grandmother Nancy Carroll, born 1803, died 1889. I don't know where either event took place. She was married to William Wright 11 Oct 1921. Can't find documentation for any of these events. Children of William and Nancy were: Elender m. Daniel Glover--I have no other information on her Fielding m. Susannah Merrifield Nanthan (my gg grandfather) m. Isabella Nay,Jelina Cunningham, and Mary Crowle William m Nancy Dean Daniel m. Rebecca Clark Catherine m. a Mr. Ice Ida (probably died young.) Barbara m. Martin Penlope or Penlope Martin Jesse m. Can't find any record of him. I have found records for some of these children in Marion Co and some in Harrison. Any clues at all will be much appreciated. Charlotte in Tucson

My gg grandfather, Sebastian Lang married Sarah Ellen Payne in Harrison Co in 1854 so I would imagine he came just a few years prior to that time. Also was it necessary for him to have been a naturalized citizen to have served in the Union Army in the Civil War? Thanks. Charlotte in Tucson where it is very windy (and dusty) today. 1. [HCGS] ATTENTION
    2. Tonight in Charleston, W. Va. I heard on television that more and more people are loosing their identify by neglect. One way that it is happening is people are going into genealogy sites and stealing names and dates where people have put living dates on and with the mothers name. This is happening folks. This is not the fifties where you could trust anyone. I'd like to propose to the sights that are public and publish these dates with mothers names to delete them as soon as possible. What if the one that uses this info gets caught and goes to court. Then these thieves tell they got the dates with mothers names from your sight. I think there could be grounds for big trouble from the people that were hurt. This situation is dangerous. Make all the sights aware of this situation and maybe we can get this problem under control. If you know a sight that has info like this, make them aware, don't just sit and let these thieves do this to our families. I sure know how I'd feel if this happened to me, since I've given no one permission to ever publicize me or my living family ever. Has people forgotten what being a family represents. One is supposed to protect your living family members. After we die the world has info which even includes our SS numbers posted to the world. Wake up before you are a victim! 3. Hi Charlotte, Thank you for responding so quickly. It's close, but I think there were a lot of mistakes made back then--Frances and 28 years isn't promising because Eliza lived a long life and she wouldn't be 28 until 1865. Thanks again, it's a lead. 1. [HCGS] Can anyone help or make a suggestion?
    2. Hi, Jim We also moved to Brookline, on Fordam avenue at about 1963. My husband lived in Brookline also. We moved to Il. in 1969. All I know about my maternal grandfather is that his name was Fred Recob. He was a veteran in world war one. He was hurt in the war and put on disability. He lived in Morgantown, W.V. I remember them giving my mother a flag. Had to be in the late 1950 that he died. His wife was Ada Mae Nickelson and she died very young. I did find my paternal grandfathers ship. He was Italian and came over to Ellis Island when he was 17 no other family came so that is a dead end that I know. I am sure you know about the web site ellisislandrecords .com That is where I found the ship. His name was spelled a little different, Thanks for any help, I also wished I had asked questions when I was young to know more about my family. You have family in West Va. also, who knows could be related. I have very little infomation about both sided of my family. Thanks, Diane > >
