Linda, I sent Sharon a message and it didn't bounce back. bramhall@earthlink.net Ruby
On the same trip we stopped and ate at Hardy's Family Restaurant at Mink Shoals near Charleston. Had wilted lettuce with hot Appalachian dressing. Vinegar, sugar, something else. Want to try it .does anyone have the recipe? Tasted like something my Marion Co. grandmother used to make. On the way home we ate at the American Steak Hose in Clarksburg. Also good. No secret WVa. receipts. Thanks, Jean Smith
On a previous trip to middle WVa I persuaded my often impatient husband to track down where lost river got lost, and found where it come out with a question here.. Last weekend we went from middle Pa. to Charleston. Noticed Lost Creek in Harrison Co.. 350 mile trip is too long to go hunting for and finding lost things. Where does Lost Creek get lost and does it come out again? Jean Smith
Does anyone have a will for either of these? Thanks. Sharon

Much of the time was spent discussing speakers for the workshop. Nothing is definite yet as people need to be contacted but we are planning on having someone do a session on beginning genealogy and courthouse records. Hopefully, we will be able to get some speakers that will be representative of the different ethnic groups that settled in Clarksburg and the surrounding areas. Help is needed in several different areas including: Publicity, Designing a pamphlet, possibly Refreshments, Setup, Registration, and more. Our next planning meeting will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 at the Waldomore. Please feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions. The HCGS monthly meeting is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4. Sharon, Do you have a date and county? I have the book, Harrison Co WV Estate Settlements prior to 1850. Will be happy to look it up if the parameters fit. I hope after this mornings meeting, someone will post some of the ideas that were discussed for the workshop. I would love to attend the workshop in May, although the 17th is my daughters birthday, so we will see. I have not done any research, in person, in Harrison Co. but would love to now that I am closer. Perhaps one of the classes could be an introductory class for doing research in Harrison Co. I guess I should have mentioned that before this meeting today. Sorry. Hi Listers - If anyone else is researching this Kile/Kyle line, I have a question for you - In checking back over some census info, I find that John had an older sister, b. c. 1804. I have no record of her, nor her name. Perhaps she died as a child, but there was a female who was about 2 years older than he. Don't know how I missed her. JOhn and his first wife had 10 ch and he had 4 sons by his second wife. Surely someone else has him in their genealogy tree. His ch by first marriage to Mary Polly Watkins = James W., married Amanda Hughes Azariah, married Nancy Ann Coffman and Caroline Martin Elijah, not married Joseph, married Sarah Ann Morrison John W., married Elizabeth Hurst Mary, married John M. Bramer Martha, married Amos Martin Maria Emmaline, married Wm. E. "Polk" Hurst Priscilla, died young Henry, died young ch by 2nd marriage to Harriet Ritter = Jasper S., married Virginia Swiger Alva, died young George Marion, married Ella Camille Faulkner Aquila Timothy, married Mollie Boyles Any help appreciated, thanks, Kathryn Kyle Hall

Dear Members, I sit here and wonder why there is not more activity on our two main sources of transferring and exchanging information. I am no expert on any of these. The club even has a web page for it's members. Click here: -- Harrison County Genealogy Society WEB Page We have the HCGS-L@rootsweb.com, a very visible means of exchanging information. It's a list you have to sign up for. Easy to send info to everyone who is on list. I will send this info this way today We have HCGS powered by MyFamily.com that will do a lot of nice things for you, if you use them. Let me talk on HCGS@My Family.com. I have been stumbling around on MyFamily.com sites for 3 years or more, never sure what I was doing, getting frustrated because of my lack of understanding what they wanted me to do. I have come to understand a little about it. As a user you cant hurt much but as an administrator you have your hands full. So stumble around and learn to use this concept. Some of its features: REVIEWS: You can write reviews on anything. HISTORY: Not sure what this does yet. NEWS: Nice feature, you can alert people about club happenings or other important things, like when Ruby was in hospital. Address Book: Unique you can put almost anything you want in here even the names you are researching. Calendar : Will publish and send out reminders on Birthdates, Anniversaries, Club Events, etc. File Cabinet: A great storage and retrieval spot for info even sound and video. Family Tree: You can build your own family tree file right on line. PHOTOS: You can add photos and even put them in albums. There are other items not turned on at this time. If I have made any mistakes please correct me. What I have found, seems HCGS@MyFamily.com must have started about NOV 2000. There are atleast 165 members listed in address book. Only about 50 have found and used it in 2 years. I will hopefully get back to this next week. I have to leave now I will be walking my sister down the aisle tomorrow morning to give her away. Probably wont get back to this till Tuesday of next week Oct 1, I plan on going to the meeting on Oct 4. Come and let me take your picture. Jim COTTRILL
Hi Lee, Enjoyed that and it made a lot of sense. I once asked why you never saw elderberrys anymore and my old wise Uncle told me it's because there are no dirt roads anymore. He might have a point, because as a kid I picked elderberrys and as I recall they all ways grew along a dirt road. Who is the local Elderberry expert on here? I have not picked Elderberrys since about 1950. Jim Cottrill
For all of you who complain about postings that don't stick to a genealogy message, please get ready to find your DELETE key, because you won't want to waste your time here. Just click on the link and it should start up automatically. You do have to scroll down through the message. Sit back, enjoy, and think about it ! ! ! This is a reminder on the meeting which is to be held tomorrow, Saturday, September 28th at the Waldomore, Clarksburg, WV, to plan for the upcoming workshop which we are planning for May, 2003. Patricia Dennison will need a lot of help to make this workshop a success so we would appreciate as many as can to attend to give her your input. We need a location as well as speakers or teachers. Thanks, Ruby Casto Membership Chairman of HCGS
Patricia, What is the date that has been set for the genealogy workshop and will it be held at the HCPD library?
