    1. [HCGS] Send a THANK YOU!
    2. ALL FRIENDS & FAMILY: This message has gone around a lot....so much that I am surprised at how few people have cared enough to send a simple little note of THANKS to the men and woman who are currently out there protecting the United States. No matter the politics, we would not have a free country at all without those who stand ready to put their lives on the line for all of us! They are getting very close to doing just that -- maybe we can all find the 30 seconds max to say THANK YOU ------------------- If you are so inclined, visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only 3,000,000 names. What a shame. There should be hundreds of millions of "thank you's." Pass the word that we can honor and support the defenders of freedom. National Military Appreciation Month http://www.defendamerica.mil/nmam.html takes 10 seconds...literally (please pass it on to your email friends)

    3. I want to thank all of you that have sent your dues in and for those who haven't please try to get them in by the middle of February so that I can get them processed before the March newsletter comes out. The treasurer has been good about sending me the renewals when she gets them from the post office and I really appreciate that. Since Bob is not well I just don't get to the Waldomore like I would like to. I'm almost afraid to tell you that they have set his surgery date again for the 27th of this month. I just hope and pray that it works and that he can be relieved of some if not all of the pain which he has endured now for over 2 years. Ruby Casto Membership Chairman for HCGS. 3. We do have some members that live around the Shinnston area and also if you would send a query to the newsletter Jack Sandy Anderson maybe able to tell you about the Radabaugh house. He is a local Shinnston historian. He does not have e-mail but you could also write to him. Jack Sandy Anderson, Rt 1, Box 128, Shinnston, WV 26431 Usually the name Okie is spelled Okey and is a fairly common name in this area. Icie could be spelled Icie or Icy. I have seen it both ways. You can send a query to Diana Johnson at wvhb1@hotmail.com or mail it to her at Diana Johnson, 26 Chiefton Hill, Clarksburg, WV 26301 or to the society at Harrison County Genealogical Society, P O Box 387, Clarksburg, WV 26301. Hope this helps some. Ruby Casto [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]

    1. [HCGS] MEETING
    2. RECasto
    3. Hi Folks, The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their January, 2003 meeting this morning at the Waldomore, Clarksburg, WV. It was not snowing but pouring down the rain and still there were 12 of us in attendance. Darrell mentioned the short meeting we had at the Christmas party in December and stated that he thinks we should go to Ryans again next year for our Christmas party. David Houchin, librarian, said he had been getting newer County Books to replace some of the ones that are pretty well beaten up from so much use. He also received two new books, one on the Gibson family and the other one on the Dever family. Patricia Dennison has been working hard on the upcoming workshop which is to be held on May 17, 2003 at the Caperton Center, Clarksburg, WV. The next planning meeting will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 10:00 A.M.at the Waldomore and she really needs a lot of help. If at all possible please come and give her your support and volunteer. If you have questions about it feel free to contact her at triciad20@cs.com I was busy with memberships today as it is dues time and everyone seems to be getting them sent in. Like I said, it was a short meeting. Ruby Casto Membership Chairman for HCGS [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
