Hi Ethel and Danny, Ethel, did I give you a copy of my picture of the first Swiger Reunion picture, it isn't nearly as large as the one you have. It was taken October 17, 1915 according to the date on the picture. Hi Ethel, Is the picture sharp and clear? Is the picture in a frame, Is it rolled in a tube, Is it dried out or in good shape? You could probably copy with a scanner also copy and overlap sections and keep all the sizes equal and then piece it to gether. If I lived closer I would attempt to do this for YOU. Where do YOU live? Jim Consider each day a gift. Use each for who knows when we shall no longer be able to do so. James R COTTRILL. Thank you, great information Do you have anyone to research here?
Ethel, One idea might be to have someone with a good zoom lens camera take pictures - one section at a time - left to right. It might be more useful that way for identity purposes. It sounds like a treasure! I'm sure there are people out there who may be able to recognize kin. <Sharon>< Ethel E Nielsen wrote: >Danny >I may have told you this before, but I wonder if you could use the >picture I have of the 1916 Swiger Reunion at Hepzibah Church. Danny I sent the pictures of Peter Ash and Catherine Wigner and the photos of their dtr Susanna Ash and Joseph Hammond. E-mail was returned; unable to deliver. Have you another address I could send them? Ethel
Sharon Danny is not interested in the photo. Yes, it is in good shape and some year I hope to bring it from California to Hackers Creek. I tried to give it to Waldomore a few years back and they did not want it?????/ Ethel On Thu, 27 Mar 2003 18:51:36 -0500 bramhall@earthlink.net writes: > Ethel, > One idea might be to have someone with a good zoom lens camera take > > pictures - one section at a time - left to right. Hi Yes, it is in a frame and is in good condition. I had a copy (3 parts) made which turned out good. I live in California. I notice you are in Pittsburg. I have a cousin in Pittsburg also. I plan, some year, to bring this picture to Hackers Creek and I hope they will not sell it but hang it up for all to see! The frame is so old it is beginning to show its age! Both of my grandparents are in this picture; and, they are the only ones I can identify. No names on the back! Danny tells me a woman on his mail route offered him the same picture.! There appears to be a problem with messages not coming through to the list. Yesterday, I wrote two replies to questions that were posted on the list. I sent them around 6:30 pm. One did not come through until 2:41am. The other hasn't appeared in my mailbox yet. Please have patience if there is more than one response to a question or if your letters aren't getting through. I think that rootsweb may be having a problem or is down for maintenance as I've had very little mail from any of my lists in the last 24 hours. Ruby posted the hours for the workshop. In case my first letter doesn't make it through cyberspace, the cost of the workshop is $12.50 if you send in your registration by May 1. It is $15.00 to register on the day of the workshop. Patricia
The workshop date is May 17th. Registration begins at 8:30, first classes are at 9:00. The application is in the newsletter which was mailed Monday so all of you should be getting yours before long. Ruby [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
Danny I may have told you this before, but I wonder if you could use the picture I have of the 1916 Swiger Reunion at Hepzibah Church. The problem is the size. It is about 8" x 5 feet long and contains hundreds of people. I do not know anything about CD's so this may not lend itself to your project. Do you need a picture of Peter Ash and Catherine Wigner, parents of Susanna Ash Hammond? Ethel

Anyone that has information on James Reed Anderson, tell Charlotte. I can sympathize. It's been some time since I found a "new" ancestor. Patricia
Hello Jean, The workshop will be held on May 17, 2003. Doors open at 8:30 and the individual sessions start at 9:00. It is a one day workshop. If you send in your registration form in advance, the cost is $12.50. Assuming that there are spaces left, the cost to register on the day of the workshop is $15.00. There are registration forms in the March newsletter. Patricia

I ignored any workshop info, because I didn't think I could make it. Reading all it will include, I certainly want to try. What are the dates again? Thanks, Jean Smith

I posted the information about the workshop on the calendar at the HCGS My Family site. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't seem to send the link to this list. Jim or Sue, if you read this, maybe you can help. Right now, the only update that I have regarding the workshop schedule is that local historian Jack Sandy Anderson has agreed to do the walking tour of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery along with Harrison County Historical Society President, Laura Goff Davis. There are many prominent Clarksburg/Harrison Co. residents buried in this cemetery. I'm sure that those that will participate in this session will learn many interesting new things about our notable citizens of the past. A few of our speakers aren't listed on the back of the registration forms: Rosalind Queen Alonso: She is the former Executive Director of the WV Italian Heritage Festival. She's also done extensive genealogical research in Italy. She is speaking on her oral history project which is funded by the WV Dept. of Culture and History and the Italian American Foundation. Lawrence Metzner: He was born and raised in the West Virginia community of Helvetia. For those who aren't familiar with the community, a group of Swiss settlers came to the area in 1869. The Randolph County community is a beautiful place to visit and celebrates their Swiss heritage with several events during the year. Mr. Metzner is a descendant of the original Swiss settlers. John Hines and Dave Heise: John is a valued member of HCGS. He has donated many CD-ROMs to the genealogy society and is very knowledgeable about computers. He and Dave Heise are working on several family history books. We are offering this session twice as the class size itself will be smaller. I've spoken with the County Clerk about the possibility that a courthouse employee be available to make copies of records on the day of the workshop. I'm waiting to hear back from her as the individual that David had in mind has been on vacation. However, if no one is available to make copies, be sure to make good notations of the book and page numbers if you want to request a copy later. There are three sessions scheduled at the Harrison County Courthouse. It's possible that someone could stay and research for more than one session. It will depend on how many people register for each one. However, as a security guard will have to unlock a door for us, we'll probably not be able to come and go as we please. I can't think of anything else that's not on the registration form. Any planning committee people out there who can add something, feel free to do so. We're hoping for a nice turnout. HCGS members are getting their registration forms about a week before the forms go out to the public. That will give members a chance to register early and get the classes they want. Please write me (triciad20@cs.com) with questions. Direct the questions to the list if you feel that the answer will benefit other members. I'll try to get online to check my mail more than my usual one time a day. Patricia Dennison
Hi Patricia, I would really love to come to the workshop and especially would like to tour the IOOF Cemetery because several of my ancestors (as well as my husband's) are buried there. If any information is given on James Reed Anderson (Civil War Veteran) I would really appreciate it if someone would be so kind as to take notes and forward them to me. He is one of my "brick walls" Thanks so much.
