The Harrison County Genealogical Society Web Site has been up dated with a new story and Ruby's notes. Hope to see you all at the Scottish Festival located at the Bridgeport City Park on May 1st. We will have a table with Genealogical Information. Dick Wilt Web Master http://www.wvhcgs.com
The Harrison County Genealogical Society held their April meeting this date with 11 members in attendance. Our member Marvin Stemple was with us once again. David didn't have anything to report on the book committee, only that he wants to buy some new books from Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants. There are no trips planned at this time. Diana Johnson reported on the Scottish Festival which will be held in Bridgeport on the 1st of May. The members working it will have to be there at 7:30 A.M. They are Diana Johnson, Bertha Webb, Betty Waugh and Dick Wilt. In order to get in they will need name tags. Diana is going to take pedigree charts, pens, and a copy of each of our publications to the festival. We had twenty five applications for the scholarships and the committee to read them will be meeting on the 8th of May at noon. That will also be the date of our next meeting. The committee to read the stories will be Betty Waugh, June Conrad and Ted Wolfe. After the meeting was adjourned several of us stayed over to help with the newsletter. It should be mailed the first of next week. When I left David was having a paper jam with the labels. Remember the next meeting will be May 8, 2010. Ruby Casto Membership Chairman of HCGS
The meeting is this Saturday, April 17th, not the 10th. Sorry about that. Ruby
Just a reminder about the meeting of Harrison County Genealogical Society, on Saturday, April 10th. It will be at 10:00 A.M. on the second floor of the Waldomore. Diana Johnson is going to need some volunteers to stay after the meeting to help get the March newsletter ready to be mailed. Looks like I might have to go tomorrow and get me a new monitor for my computer as it is beginning to flicker so thought I would put this on now while it still works. Ruby
Bob, As far as I know right now there will be a meeting on May 1st. That is the regular meeting date for May. If there is any change I will post it to the list. Ruby
Ruby, I am sorry to have not brought this up before now. I am not able to make the meeting on the 17th. The question I have is whether there will be a meeting two weeks after that on the first Saturday in May? I was planning on coming down for that one. Thank you. Sharon, I had to go back and read the story. That was three stories ago for me. I am working on the Feature Story for May 15th. I have run out of stories and now am doing research. The May 1st is one is by me so I think I have a couple laying around from others but they are on paper and the first thing I have to do is put them in electronic format and then work on them. Hope you have a Happy relaxing Easter.
