Someone in this area has an atlas dated ca 1885 ??. It has neighborhoods in detail. Do we have one in the library? Linda In a message dated 6/10/2010 8:02:02 P.M. I'm pretty sure there are 1863, 1883, 1886 atlases at the library. ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, June 10, 2010 8:29:59 PM Subject: Re: [HCGS] Clarksburg Sanborn Maps - I can access all Someone in this area has an atlas dated ca 1885 ??. Thanks, Nancy & David. I'm not sure how you can pass them on - but I'm interested to see downtown Clarksburg (including Glen Elk) and particularly east of the city where Summit Park/Despard now lies - before the turn of the century (could be called "Murphy's Run" on the map). I'd be happy to see either of these years: 1884 or 1890. I know it is very possible that the east end is not included. I'm very jealous of your MD library card, Nancy! ________________________________ From: nan adams <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, June 10, 2010 8:01:47 PM Subject: [HCGS] Clarksburg Sanborn Maps - I can access all i can get to all the Sanborn Clarksburg maps via my Maryland library card. 1884, 90, 96, 02, 05, 11, 16, 24,and the '50 and '55 versions. Thanks for your input, Julie. Before (here in Cleveland), going TO the library was the only way of accessing Sanborn - but now - I can go to their site online by entering my library card ID - but only get OHIO maps. Just curious as to what Clarksburg library card carrying members can access.. my Clarksburg/Harrison County library ID card has expired. But I do think there is one for Clarksburg according to this site, which apparently SELLS them. http://oldusmaps.com/index.htm ________________________________ From: Julie & Frank George <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, June 9, 2010 6:39:13 PM Subject: Re: [HCGS] Clarksburg map 1898 online I too received an error message so I used the Library of Congress URL http://lcweb2.loc.gov and then followed the links to Maps, Cities and Towns, and searched for Clarksburg West Virginia--and up it popped!! Nancy, I am very sorry that I have done what I said I would do but Barb probably filled you in on the situation. After my son had his stroke his wife packed all of the household furnishings and moved out on Feb 3rd living him at home in a wheel chair so it all dropped on me. His memory is still impared and he has to be reminded on a daily basis just to get him to get things done. Now he is the middle of a divorce, when it rains it pours. Barb said she wanted to give the telephone number of Ferd Rogers, the name is spelled correctly FERD. His telephone number is 304 783 5257 and he loves to talk about the Dola area and all the people. Rogers are great talkers. If you call him just tell him you are a good friend of BUSS's (Fred Rogers) wife Barbara and he will know exactly who you are talking about and he will tell you anything you want to know, if he knows it. He is in his 90s but has a very good mind and is very quick witted. One thing I would say if you do talk to him try to record your conversation so you can refer to it afterwards because he will talk your ear off. I haven't forgotten you, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. The last time we emailed was Oct 10, 2009. Sometimes I am very slow at doing things but will get to it eventually.
