My grandmother was Ethel Hays Markee. She died in 1954 soon after my birth. The first funeral that I ever attended was for "Aunt Grace" Markee Balch. It as in Athelston, Iowa. In the early 1960's we traveled to California to see "Aunt Mag" - Margaret Hays Blake. We visited her and many of her adult children at that time. I could probably find out more information on the Hayes family from my cousin.
