He was living in Newton County, Missouri in 1850 and 1860 and probably died between 1860 and 1870. In 1850 he is listed as head of the household with Porter Joy age, age 30, Julia Ann, age 26, and George W., age 3. In 1860 the household is: Jonathan Hays, age 70 SC, Julia Ann, age 32, George W., age 12, and Mary B., age 8. Porter Joy died in July of 1853. Julia Ann married Porter's brother Shadrach, but this marriage ended in divorce. The connection between Julia Ann and Jonathan Hays is not know, but because of ages he could possibly be either her father or grandfather. It seems likely that there was a relationship since her family was living with him through two census years. Any help appreciated.
