Your apparent "crossing ancestor", George Hayes, was b. in Scotland in 1655 and d. 1725 in Granby, (Simsbury), Hartford Co., CT. Subsequent generations from "George" are Daniel, 1686; Daniel, 1716; Enoch, 1763; and Helon I Hayes, 1791, all b. in CT, most in Granby, Hartford Co. Helon Hayes and his wife, Mary Hawley, had six known children, the eldest of whom was BENJAMIN F. (FRANKLIN) HAYES, b. 1816 in CT and d. 1852 in Fowler, Trumbull Co., OH. Others in his family went to Hayesville, Keokuk Co., IA. Benjamin m. ALVIRA BARNES and they had six known children between 1837 and 1852, all b. in Trumbull Co., OH: DUETTA, GEORGE, SURAMA, LOVINA, ESTHER & ROANNA C. HAYS. By 1870 Roanna and her widowed mother had moved to Williamsburg, Clermont Co., OH where Roanna m. William W. (Wilshire) Gillman, and where their descendants are found through the 1930 Census. Roanna Hays and William W. Gillman had five children all b. in Brown or Clermont Counties, OH: MARY C., 1876; MARTHA A., 1878; CLARA B., 1881; FLORENCE, 1889 & CLEVELAND S. GILLMAN, 1892. Cleveland and his wife, Minnie L., had three children prior to 1930: CORA C., abt. 1919; LENNA A., abt. 1922 & FRANKLIN R. GILLMAN, 1928. There may have been more. Roanna C.
